rnelson
Hi All, I shot a wedding using two cameras with both cameras' image counters set to 'zero.' What is the best way to import these images into one LR folder so there are no conflicts and so that I see them in TIME order when I begin editing? Thanks, Randy
digitaldog
Make sure "Do not import suspected duplicates" isn't on for a start. The other thing would be to copy both camera's files to individual folders first, rename then import. Ed_Ingold
In the future, you should change the file prefix in the camera to distinguish the cameras. Secondly, maintain a serial numbering system rather than resetting the number each time you change a card. That will prevent unwanted duplication in the short term, unless you shoot 10,000 images for that event. For now, Digitaldog has the best solution - download each camera to a separate folder, then rename the files before combining them into a new directory or collection. Collections are a useful tool in Lightroom, giving you the ability to combine images from several folders by reference, without actually copying the files. bgelfand
On import there is a File Renaming Panel. In the "Filename Template Editor" under the "Additional" entry select "Serial Number" and suffix the file name with the camera serial number. The serial number should be unique, coupled with the image counter, should produce unique names. To insure unique names across sessions, you can also add the date to the file name. rnelson
Sorry for the delayed acknowledgment; I thought I was setup to receive replies via email, but apparently not. Thanks for the advice. I will investigate both solutions. Best, Randy
