western_isles
I am prepared to admit that as someone who has returned after an absence I may be finding the site a tad difficult to get used to but even allowing for this some basic functions just do not work. Comments box on lower right below an image (to it's right is left "Read comments") Clicking on the Comment box does nothing. I have tried this with a number of images and the issue is not related to one particular page/image. It's only when you click on Read comments that you can add a comment. This strikes me as at best misleading. The more I become familiar with the new site the more disappointed I become but I am trying to like it. Jack McRitchie
I've been an active member for about 12 years so I'll let you guess what I think about this new version.
western_isles
I agree completely with your views. The staffs at PN really need to take this on board as there are obvious problems which did not exist in V 1 of the site. I have a decision as to renew my membership of PN or renew my existing membership of Nikonians and at present Nikonians is winning although I actually prefer PN for a variety of reasons. Note to admin: Why should folks like us pay a subscription fee for an inferior product? It's not just me, read the feedback :(
G-P
I believe this is an issue with his browser - he's using Edge which isn't a browser we do testing on....only 2% of users use Edge....Chrome is 50%, Safari is 36% and Firefox is 10%...then its a long list of other browsers that make up the remaining 4%. western_isles
Just downloaded chrome and used it to log in. Comments box is still not working. Have not tried other functions yet but suspect that there will be no difference, its not the browser. Given that there are so many people unhappy with V 2 it might be and idea that you looked at the whole thing again.
Ken Ratcliffe
Just downloaded chrome and used it to log in. Comments box is still not working. Have not tried other functions yet but suspect that there will be no difference, its not the browser. Given that there are so many people unhappy with V 2 it might be and idea that you looked at the whole thing again. Could you please explain your problem with viewing/adding comments on images in more detail as I use Chrome and have no issues with this function. Where are you viewing images on the Critique forum, Public profiles or where. Your description "comments box on lower right below an image (to it's right is left "read comments") is quite confusing, when viewing images it's the comments total that is displayed on the bottom right.
Norman 202
i think “western_isles” is just rehashing old gripes. Edited July 13, 2018 by G-P
Dustin McAmera
For clarity, we need to see the screen. Using Firefox, I see this, when I click on one of Western_isles' photos at his portfolio-side profile page: It's worth noting that to see all of that, I had to permit some more script in NoScript to let all the buttons load. So if it doesn't look like that, maybe you're blocking something. So there's the comment box at bottom right, with the 'Comment' button at bottom right of it. To add a comment, I'd click in the text 'Share your thoughts...' and type my comment, then hit 'Comment', right? So I've just done that. The whole comment box has disappeared, and been replaced by text 'Comment saved! [visit photo's comments]', all in orange. The comments count at the top of that page hasn't gone up. When I click on the orange text, I go to another page showing the photo. The comments count is now at the top left, and indeed shows a comment. To see the comment itself, I have to scroll right to the bottom of that page, but there it is. I see there was also script from yet more sites on this page. So it works in Firefox (61.0.1)
Ken Ratcliffe
Following Dustin's instructions as above I've just tried the following. Using Chrome, select the same image in his portfolio, then by either clicking on "view" or image title or the image it'self, then able to submit a new comment. No issues found using Chrome on Windows 10.
western_isles
i think “western_isles” is just another troll rehashing old gripes. Find this quite offensive and I am prepared to accept an apology but doubt if you have the courtesy or manners. May I ask Admin to take this offensive comment up with Ken Ratcliffe? I would be grateful for a public response, thank you.

Western_isles please read the posting on this forum correctly and please look again at who has said what. Ken Ratcliffe did NOT post the offensive comment, I was merely trying to help and give advice.

Norman 202
what offensive post? “western_isles”- if that is his real name- saunters in here and starts moaning about things that everyone is aware of. why didn’t “western_isles” do us all a favour and read the previous posts on the misfiring of the site instead of posting an inflammatory post i rest my case. (i won’t mention the fact that “western_isles” wasn’t capable of distinguishing who, allegedly, “offended” him) Edited July 13, 2018 by G-P

(i won’t mention the fact that “western_isles” wasn’t capable of distinguishing who, allegedly, “offended” him) You have a track record of persistently offending members while not posting any images or in any other way making a constructive contribution to the forum. Western Isles is where I come from and if you have a problem with that then you do indeed have a problem. Please stop this childish behaviour all you are doing is demonstrating how purile you really are.

G-P
OK gentlemen - no need to go back and forth on this. We will work with Western Isles to figure out what his issue is so we can all move on.
