I could scarcely believe it as I looked, almost franticly, through the snow all piled up on the roadside as I drove slowly. There it was, emerging from the winter white, a Red-winged Blackbird perched on the only thing around, a metal fencepost. That also happens to be the only green in the county. I'm so glad I keep the camera in the front seat. Sure, it's a common everyday bird, but I was very happy to see and hear it.

I hope you've all had a great week. Where's your camera been? Let's get this one week off to a good start here in Monday in Nature.

User_6502147
Unlike some places, we had a real treat of a day in the 60's...well, it felt like 60's. It was good to roam the hill near my house, check out the crocuses, buffer park and everything in-between. I liked these red buds better OOF (and can't even explain why).

mbkissel
Laura, so far, a good close-up of a RWBB has eluded me; still on my bucket list. I saw several yesterday while I had no camera with me. C'est la vie!

Captive taken with a 5DIII w/100mm L macro.

johnfarrar
Another animal, which was photographed captive (after a long chase on the beach); and another forum guideline flouted - it's sitting on a bit of man-made card. Oh but those logarithmic spirals....

sgust
Found this guy on my trail and we both got startled and went out of each other's way. On my way back I decided to see if it was still around. After a bit of careful looking around I found it coiled up, waiting for nightfall. This one was pretty peaceful, but they have a reputation of standing their ground and biting instead of fleeing. So I guess luck was on my side that day.

Fer-de-Lance (Bothrops asper)

click on the image to see it larger

dzaebst
Visited the Venice rookery last month, and this guy circled the rookery twice before landing, making it easy to get multiple captures. I liked the reflected blues and greens in the water as a BG.
