Good morning, Canon Shooters, and Happy New Year! I hope it’s a great one for you and your families.

After a year of outstanding service, Lupo has relinquished his position as thread starter and the job is now open. I’m starting it this week just to get things going, but I’m sure the moderators will find a permanent replacement very soon. In the meantime, let’s see what you have to share. I’m sure it will be great!

I was on the road over the holidays, as I often am, but at least I was able to bring my beautiful girlfriend with me for a couple of days in China. She’s not a Commie, but she is a Nikon shooter, to my great dismay. It was freezing cold and the wind was blowing about 30 knots when we visited the Great Wall, so we bought a couple of those hats to keep warm. They made great souvenirs too.

00cHK8-544593584.jpg.5e1b6f07c020b7a29b5b2defeee2f7cd.jpg

Firstly Happy New Year to all on PN
I took my Samyang 14/2.8 out for a trial run on my 5D2 a couple of days ago and met up with an old friend I've photographed on many occasions(I've also run a few films through the EOS 1v, but haven't had them processed yet).
5D2+14/2.8, iso-400, ~f5.6, 1/320

Dave, thanks for opening this morning. Snow Geese have returned to the area but are still to far for daily outings. I've crossed my fingers in hopes of them returning to a closer location. In the meantime ducks and geese enjoy the mixed free water and ice down on a local lake. An immature Bald Eagle came in for a bit of hunting while I was there. Usually when the adults fly in all the other birds scatter, but most were unconcerned by the juvenile.

00cHLJ-544597684.JPG.baea87b7afed644eb711b05d45629731.JPG

Snuck into my study to download my files from December. My wife's cooking is definitely better than my photography, but here's a combination: two stages in a mushroom starter. 1Ds3 with 100mm f2.8L macro, the second lit with a 580EXII with Stofen diffuser and 1/8 CTO gel.
