Ferrania Solaris ASA 400 35mm color film

Recommended Posts

I bought some expired EasyClix branded 200 ASA C-41 film in a bargain bin a while back and found out it was private labeled Ferrania Solaris made in Italy. It exposed and developed nicely for me and I was quite pleased with the results.

I was crusing that auction site a few days ago and I ran across this -

A bulk pack of Ferrania Solaris 135 color print film 400 ASA, 24 exposure. The box contains 25 rolls of Solaris C-41 film and I ended up giving $25.00 for it. I figured at a buck a roll I couldn't go too bad! I took 4 rolls out to test and put the rest in the freezer.

It 's got a 2006 expiration date but the 200 ASA Solaris I just used was expired too and it was good - I hope this 400 ASA film produces as good as the other...

Not sure what this means exactly - will CS be manufacturing Solais film or will they just be supplying film to former Ferrania film customers?

I'm not so sure there is no more film made in Italy. I contacted CS in the USA and they indicated that they are the USA distributor for them as of now. They have a minimum order of 80 rolls if you want to set up a account with them. It could be old stock that they got in a year ago but who knows for sure. The 2013 dates I saw on ebay indicate the film is fresh and is still being made. Does anyone in Italy know if the factory is still up and running?
