Remember: only one image each week!</p> </blockquote> <p>Happy Thursday to everyone again! I know I'm happy, finals are over and I passed all my classes. However, I do have a bone to pick with mother nature (what's new); its May and I can't seem to keep my jacket in the closet. Just when I think its in there for good it finds its way back out. May 4th and we barely reached 50 degrees today. As I always say, 'if the weather is the worst I have to complain about then I should be thankful.' Posts have been consistently higher lately, can't wait to see this week's photos.</p> <p>I went out to this 'secret' wildlife hotspot I found a few weeks ago to try to photograph some wildlife the other day, and although I saw quite a few birds and some deer, the best photo I came home with happened to be a landscape. It's always the unexpected shots that end up being the best. </p><div></div>
spencer_chrouser
<p>This was taken at the San Diego Zoo and is a Malayan tiger. My favorite of the tiger shots I got at the zoo. I think it turned out half decent. I'm really not too pleased with any of the tiger shots though. The lighting was pretty bad and it made it hard to get a nice shot, so that was pretty disappointing, but oh well.</p> <p>I got to the zoo at 9 a.m right when it opened, while the light was decent, but this girl was lurking in the back where I couldn't get a picture, which stunk. Came back at about 11:30 for a show they had. She was still a no show, but fortunately the keeper lured her out with some nice, fresh, ox heart. Yum! However, by this time the lighting was just awful and I was crammed in with 40 other people. Good thing I got to the exhibit 30 minutes early and staked out my spot.</p> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Camera</th> <td><a href="http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/eos_7d/">Canon EOS 7D</a></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure</th> <td>1/5000 sec</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Aperture</th> <td>f/2.8</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Focal Length</th> <td>185 mm</td> </tr> <tr> <th>ISO Speed</th> <td>500</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Exposure Bias</th> <td>-2/3 EV</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <th>Lens Model</th> <td>EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM</td> </tr> </tbody> </table><div></div>

KenPapai
<p>Simple photo from my hike last Sunday morning. I really liked the texture of this redwood tree -- it certainly stood out to me.<br /> 7D, 24-70, ISO 400, -1/3 EC, 1/60, f/3.5</p> <p>I like QUITE A BIT all five previous photos above this -- esp. those SWINGS! and the Lonely Tree and the darned Gulls. Cheers, Ken</p><div></div>

woodbyte
<p>So this was two guys chatting in the Wisconsin State Capital Building in Madison last Saturday. Taken with 24-105 on a 5dmkI. I corrected the perspective in photoshop CS5. So as most of you probably know when correcting perspective you normally lose some of the image round the edges, as the perspective correction forces the rectangle into a non-rectangle shape, meaning you lose part of the image when you crop to a rectangle. So I did not crop inwards, but rather selected and deleted the outer areas and filled them with content-aware fill, which is a new feature in this software. Basically it looks at the area you are deleting and replaces it with content taken from the surrounding area. I think the result is pretty good, at least for a small web image like this. Pretty neat feature.<br /> rgds,<br /> james</p> <p>PS love those swings further up the thread A+</p><div></div>

JamesFarabaugh
<p>This Vermilion Flycatcher was not happy about us having a bbq in his territory.</p> <p>This shot is a perfect example of how the right lens makes a big difference. Since the only lens I own is the kit lens (18-135) I had to crop WAY in on this, and the f/5.6 really stunk up the cruddy background. Oh well, it's all I've got for this disappointing week behind the camera.</p> <p>Robin, I love the swings!</p><div></div>
david_huff1
<p>Nathan and David - great shots. Robin - wow. No shots this week, so here is one from last week in Yosemite. The park is two different experiences between 7 a.m. and after 11 a.m. </p><div></div>

bob-c
<p><strong>Nathan</strong>, congrats on completing (and passing) your finals. It has been quite a while since I was last in school but I remember the feeling. <br> Some great shots so far this week, my fav is<strong> David'</strong>s sea gulls. My contribution is a flower I shot at a local garden, with a little help from PS.</p><div></div>
mbkissel
<p>Nice images everyone. A great start this week!<br> @ Nathan - Nice landscape. You buy a new camera?<br> @ Robin - Swing shot is terrific! Did you try a conversion to B&W? Wonder how that would look?<br> @ James D - Almost looks like it was shot with a T/S lens.<br> @ Mark Keefer - Don't know how you got that a 1/20 sec. Great exposure!</p> <p>This was a rather unusual looking chap I happened upon at a zoo this past weekend. I'll have to admit it has been altered a bit. I had to shoot through a cage which showed up as darker vertical and horizontal lines in the image, so I cloned them out. I believe this is a King Vulture.</p><div></div>
randy_cooprider1
<p>Takes me forever to post because I look at the already posted pics too long. Ervin I like your software test but am not good enough to judge. I also liked the rest of the posts which is why I take so long.<br> My wife and I were in the basement at 2:00AM waiting for the storm cell causing a tornado warning to clear. I was almost asleep in the recliner when she noticed a stream of water flowing across the floor. Of course I had to get the shop vac and suck water up for about 45 minutes. Why was there water? The downspout was blocked by maple tree seeds like those in the picture attached and the water was pouring onto the house foundation. The kids called these things "helicopters" since they pinwheel down from the trees. I call them "drain plugs" [:<)</p><div></div>

There are train tracks that run on the top of this bridge. I cropped 1x1 in LR, made it B&W with grain, then in PS added some HDR toning. I'm fairly pleased with out it turned out. The parts where the sun was shining washed out the details of the bridge which I found undesirable, but not ruinous.</p> <p>Like many before me, I really thought that swing shot is cool.</p>
