joshroot

Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels wide/high for in-line viewing, and please try to keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc).

Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Thursday threads are right here. Remember: only one image each week!

Here we go with week #2. Sorry for the late start (particularly those of you on the [L]east coast), but I've had some connection issues this morning with my ISP. Frustrating to try and run a giant photography website with no internet. Anyway, the Nikon crew is still beating Canon as far as participation goes. So let's double down this week and make a real race of it. I don't want to have to get any more taunting emails from Matt Laur about how the Canon crew types more than it shoots.

Another kid photo from me this week (I warned you this would happen). This was just a "get the camera!" moment, as my wife was about to feed him his first solid food (can mashed prunes be called solid). I'm sure all photographer-parents can identify with that sort of demand from their significant other. The photo itself is cute enough and does tell a bit of a story. But like all kid photos, it really lives/dies on your connection to kids in general and this particular kid specifically. Again however, it's intended audience (parents, grandparents, etc) loved it. The white balance is a bit weird due to the multiple light sources at our kitchen table. While I could have worked to adjust it further, I didn't think it was worth the bother.

As for the rest of you, POST 'EM UP.

funcrunch
Yay, I can now post one of the photos of the beautiful violinist I shot a couple of weeks ago. (I normally shoot rock musicians, so it was a nice change of pace to shoot at a school that focuses more on classical.)

Canon 5D Mk II, 85/1.8 lens, ISO 100, 1/320 at f/2.8
nathangardner
Woke up at 7am this morning to get this. I wanted to take this shot anyway, but not having anything to post on the Canon Thurs. pic gave me some extra motivation to get out of bed. Thanks for starting this thread, Josh.

mike_stemberg
I once wanted to do that thing about wanting to shoot one substantial image for every day of the year...but just couldn't keep it up. Perhaps I can try and do a at least 'one image a week' thing now for this forum. This is something I found just yards way from Horse Guards Parade (for those who know London). I have put this spot on my must visit again list whenever I am around there again, for different light etc...
