Here I have so many that I burn them up at times: 105mm F1.8 Nikkor

Nikkormat Roasting an open fire:
Ftn; 105mm F2.5 too:

Nikkormat's burn with a green glow when open gets to the copper based parts. The Nikon F fanges are darn robust; one has the CSI of what is left; mostly gobs of glass; blobs of aluminum; the wind gears and shafts are tough too:

"Nikkormats roasting on an open fire; Jack Frost misses the one of fives,

Well I have none to burn (those images just horrify me to no end...I think they show complete lack of respect for the wonderful artistic tools that are camera gear) but I do have too many lenses and here is an interesting corollary to NAS: if you think you are going to get anywhere near your expenditures on gear back probably sadly mistaken. I figured I would sell my Nikkor 105VR, my Nikkor 70-200 VRI, my 14-24/2.8, and the D300 camera body since these items are basically just sitting in the bag unused. I sent in lists of these items to KEH and to B & H for quotes. I was fairly disgusted at what KEH indicated they would pay me for this equipment. B & H has not responded yet due to the weather over there, but I don't expect they will be any better.

Well I can and will keep all these (they are absolutely mint in flawless condition) and use them some. But this is something to think about when getting all wound up about getting yet another lens or whatever: better really like it and need that piece because turn around to sell it and will likely take a beating on it. I thought camera lenses at least maintained their value somewhat but apparently not.

Or I guess you could just throw it into a fire... 8-(

7 AI or AI-S primes, ranging from 24-200mm
2 AF Nikkor Zooms and a Sigma AF 105mm macro
F3HP and F4S for actual shooting
D70S mainly for photographing ebay items
F, F Photomic, F2/DE-1 , F2/DP-1 for their tactile magnificence (all with non-AI primes)
FM + Nikkor std and Sigma zoom in the safe(ish) custody of my 12 yo son
Kent, you should seriously consider putting that stuff on The Auction Site. I got estimates for selling an OM kit from B&H, and they offered pretty much what I'd get for just the body on ebay. I'm agonizing about selling it in any case (OM-4T with 6X Zuiko primes and 2 Zuiko zooms) because, although it doesn't get the use it should, I still think the OM-4T is a great camera - and I'd much rather go hiking with an OM-4T than either of the Nikons (although Nikkors will apparently keep me warm if the firewood is damp...).

I probably own a dozen 50mm's alone. All told I think I have about 50 Nikkors. Almost all of which are manual focus. In fact I only own a single AF lens, a 35-70/ F3.3-F4.5 zoom. I also own about ten Nikon bodies in various models from Nikkormat's , F's, FM2's etc.

Most have been acquired over the last 40 years. I would often buy and sell cameras, and the lenses often came along in the deals.

Kelly: your pictures are quite painful. A Nikkormat should have been "parted" out so other Nikkormats could live on.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that the Nikon gear Kelly roasted were salvaged from the aftermath of Katrina and probably beyond repair. And if not, they're still a suitable sacrifice to the photo gods.

And I know from past anecdotes that Kelly and I agree the Nikon EM is best suited to being kicked over the edge of a cliff.

I have lenses for DX, 35mm, 645, and 4x5. I am going to start trimming all this down in a month or two, when prices on e Bay start to pick up again. Really, I think I can "get by" with five lenses for my Nikon and three for 4x5. (Plus the two kits lenses for my D80 & compact travel.) Anything more tends to be money tied up that could be better used.
