A new Tri-x in pipeline?

Yesterday the chief sales agent at the largest distribution-house in Europe

called me. He had the new pricelist for 2008 ready and he simply asked if i

wanted to try out the brand new Tri-x. I asked if he meant to ask that i want

to try the new Tmax400. He said: No, the new Tri-X, thats what my stocklist

tells me we have samples of... I im 99% sure he is wrong. But maybe there is a

hope for even a new Tri-x since Kodak is implanting their Vision 2 and 3

technology into almost all of their new negativ films.

It doesn't seem long ago that Tri-X was improved, and by some accounts became better than T-Max400 in just about all respects. Now T-Max400 has just been improved they have announced. It seems a bit too soon to improve Tri-X I would guess. But maybe they are trying to get those of us who gave up on Kodak years ago something to get tempted by.

OTT but funny to see how some "experts" predicted (years ago on this very forum) the death of all photo film PRECISELY because of the imminent death of cinema stock... (replaced with digital cameras, something that has only happened in the mind of George Lucas btw).

Now we see new improved movie stocks ("incorporating technical breakthroughs" says Kodak) and we, film users, expects these breakthroughs to be applied to our beloved TRI-X.

Since the same "experts" have seen the demise of FB papers, I'm betting on the return of Afga-Gevaert most exotic products for 2009... ;-)

And thank you Erik for the info! Hope you'll be proven right...
