<p>Small inconvenience dep't: I am unable to prevent the SCP (super control panel) from disappearing after about 12 seconds of nonuse. (Olympus OM-D E-M10.) Sometimes, that isn't enough time to figure out what to do next with it. Often, it goes off just as I'm reaching for it, so I have to press OK to turn it back on. It is just another step, but I'd like to set the persistence to be longer. Any ideas?</p>

<p>FWIW, recently I sold my Canon 50D and lenses, in favor of an Olympus OM-D E-M10. It is an amazing little camera for about $600. I got the November deals from Olympus for about $370 off camera and two lenses, a small 40-150mm and the excellent 12-40mm f/2.8 pro. The E-M10 isn't quite as complex as the E-M5, but the 10 does have the newer processing chip and better E-M1 based electronic viewfinder. <p>We have seen some at a distance, from our lanai at a Napili resort, including a couple breaching. However, binoculars are helpful and photos with a 300mm equivalent lens give a small image of the whale. A whale tour is advised.</p>

<p>We are going to be in west Maui (on the west coast, a ways north of Lahaina) for a couple of weeks this month. We are very interested in getting photos of whales as they are nearby shore in places. Where would you suggest that we set up with a tripod and a 40-150mm lens on an Olympus OM-D EM-10 (35mm equivalent of 80-300mm)? Or some other places for just eyeball viewing? Thanks for any suggestions.</p>

<p>I have the E-M10, not E-M1, but I did notice that several settings are not available if you have the program dial in iAuto. Try program or one of the A-S-M settings....Hope that works.</p><div></div>

<p>I recently moved from a Canon 50D system to Olympus OM-D E-M10. Early days, but so far I'm loving it -- a lot less size and weight, better image quality, and much more flexibility in the system. And it does focus FAST. The 12-40mm f/2.8 is an excellent and versatile lens. Also have the 40-150mm and have handheld at 150mm at 1/2 second, as the in-body image stabilization makes every lens an IS lens. The E-M10 has some features from the E-M1 that are not found in the earlier E-M5, including the newer processing chip, and a better electronic viewfinder (though not quite that of the E-M1). </p>
