<p>If you move the files, be sure to do it within Lightroom so it "knows" where they are. Otherwise, it can get difficult to fix your catalog when image files are missing.</p>

<p>You may want to be certain that any storage materials are archival. Not sure whether Ziploc bags give off gasses that damage photo products. Good luck!</p>

<p>I'm no expert, but a couple things you might try if you haven't: restart the computer? replace the USB cable with a known good one and restart everything? </p>
