Thanks. Your thought was successful. I hadn’t touched the gear for a long while, and I suspect the dark slide was mixed up with some stuff I sold. I had been using instant film backs which have a different dark slide.

I bravely returned to my GX680 and foolishly mounted a film holder without the dark slide. Now I cannot remove the film holder. Help! I have a dark slide in another film holder but cannot remove it either, even though there is no film in it

Tried a Leica M7 but enjoy using the Nikon more. Not sure why. As soon as I pick it up I want to take photos.

this reply may cause some controversy, but check out the cameras on sale on eBay from Japan. I’ve found their descriptions accurate, refunds available and good service, in fact no regrets on many purchases.

My two cents worth :) Go for it. The 67 model is the most expensive so I bought a mirror lock up model of the 6 x 7. Love it. The light meter is handy but not essential. A selection of lenses is not expensive. I have noticed the yellowing but I’m guessing it has to do with the multi coating. I’ve only shot black and white and the negatives have that WOW factor. Just check for proper operation of each part eg film rewind crank closes properly after using. Enjoy the journey.

I’ve been thinking and acting on this for the past year, gradually selling off the less valued items, leaving only about 8 film cameras which I have listed with approx values. This list goes with all my other info such as a will, bank details, lists of passwords and whatever else I think is important. I have also created photo books on different subjects. I am custodian of my deceased father’s album so I scanned this and made copies of it for each of the interested family members. Along with a written account of his stories and reminiscing it helps carry his legacy to succeeding generations. I also created an album of my most treasured photos that I personally took. No matter what others think of their artistic merit it is a little bit of me passed on. I am currently creating another album using photos from all those albums that gather dust and take up valuable space. It will be a story of my life. All this saves a lot of space and is more readily kept by others. The original pics are in a couple of shoeboxes.

I can recommend the Canon 9000 mark11 scanner. It comes with 35 mm (neg and slide) and 120 film holders. I had to buy the 110 holder for a small extra cost

Using my Nikon D500 to photograph a local Triathlon, it will be the first time using it for sports. Looking forward to testing the AF and various settings.

Isn’t it humbling that so many countries have English as a second language when here in Australia so few can speak any other language unless they are first or second generation immigrants? Latvia would be a fascinating country to visit and photograph (with a Minox of course).
