  1. I have had zero issues with additional USB ports - though it may depend on your software and hardware. Just double check with the manufacturer for guarantees.
  2. Thanks guys, I have always felt a little better with a 50mm - but I am happy to try those too. I presume on fixed focal lenses, the distortion is less than that of a zoom?
  3. Hi all, I got a new 5D Mark IV which I began using today. On the top LCD screen it displayed an error code 'err cr2d..' it flashed very quickly before disappearing and the main LCD screen was blank. The retailer is collecting the camera for a refund as they only have them available on a 5-7 day delivery now. Are there widespread issues with this model? I am opting for a 5D Mark III instead, simply because I have always thought the longer a model has been out the more likely it is to be fault free'. This episode kind of proved that to be true. I have one more question - the menu is dramatically different from what I came from (6D, upgrading for several reasons - build quality for one) and I began noticing things like 'Electronic lens MF' which isn't mentioned in the manual. I began thinking whether this error may have been to do with this feature and I may not have set up the camera to lens correctly. Or is there something else I am not considering?
  4. WOW thats mighty bright! As Ed said, overexposure in camera is your best start. Its better to start with the image you want in camera. Though, if you would like to play about in photoshop, you can import your photograph to camera raw. If your photo is in JPEG.... Open> Select photo >> Select 'Camera Raw' as the format >> Now your photo is in camera raw, push the exposure to the desired level and possibly experiment with the whites. Just bear in mind that if you print your photograph (and use a trade printer) each printer will create finishes in different ways. Mostly, prints come out slightly darker - so print a test first.
  5. Hi guys, I am in the market for a new lens for street and photojournalism. If you had to choose one, 24, 35 or 50mm lens? For Canon 5D3.
  6. <p>Hi all,<br> I am currently in Odessa for work and I thought I might take my camera with me. I was taking some photographs in a woodland area to which I downloaded the file and everything was ok.<br> A couple of days later I was shooting again but I forgot to replace the card and the original files were still on the SD card from the woods but this time a yellow question mark displayed in the download software. I opened the file and streaks of colours were on it alongside blocks of blue, yellow and green. A few minutes later, and the file was ok. It was only one file, the first one on the card.<br> It is very cold here dipping below the minus temperatures, should I be worried that my camera is at fault or that it is just the cold weather? Or the card? Or the fact i didn't format it.<br> I would upload a photo example but as I said the file is ok now. But this very issue has me confused. I am going away on holiday soon with family and getting stressed over weather my camera is ok.<br> Camera model: Canon 6D.<br> SD card used: 16GBSan Disk class 10 90mb 600x<br> Thanks!</p> <p>AM</p>
  7. <p>Hi all,</p> <p>thank you for your help. Cant thank you enough.</p> <p>It says the model is an M645 Super. Nothing els on it.</p> <p>I installed the film. I advance it but it makes a grinding noise. is that normal? </p>
  8. <p>Hello,</p> <p>I was given a Mamiya 645 (by someone who knows very little about it) and i am interested to know a little more about loading the film.</p> <p>I have downloaded the manual and looked at varous YouTube videos but none seem to have the answers to my questions:<br> 1.) There is a small winder on the right hand side and in a YouTube video I watched the person specified he did so to advance it to the first frame but no specification as to how many times or a measurement.<br> I think I may have done so though winding to advance felt quite rugged, or is that normal for a mamiya?</p> <p>2.) If there is an exposure counter where can it be found?</p> <p>3.) There are a lot of buttons and adjustments on the camera and all I'd like to do is use it for single shots for portrait. <br> - On the right hand side in front of the winder is the 'Multi highlighter. But no description for the other white dot. I presume I align the white dot with the selection for single shot?<br> - On the left hand side is 'M.UP' I have no idea what this is nor does the manual specify what it does. Unless I have a partial or out of date one.<br> - On top of the prism finder is - 'AV', 'A-S' and 'SP'. Again, I have no idea what this means but gather AV means aperture.</p> <p> </p>
  9. <p>Hi John, So the diaphragm isn't quite like an aperture?</p> <p>The red dot aligns with the numbers but they seem to be the opposite for what a regular aperture would be. 11 is shallow and 2 is narrow on this one. The ring behind the diaphragm focuses, it doesn't seem to stop down.</p> <p>Thank you for your answer Glen. So I am assuming the cloth behind the shutter will stop any light from getting through.</p>
  10. <p>Also, when rewinding the film, is it necessary to keep the lens cap on? I'm new to film so forgive me if this is a stupid question. </p>
  11. <p>Hi all,<br> I have a Zenit B with Helios 44-2 and I am a little confused as to the aperture rating. There is a red dot on the lens which I thought was indicating the aperture selected. Though, moving the red dot over F11 the aperture becomes wider. Moving it over F2, the aperture gets narrower. Am I missing something here?</p>
  12. <p>Thanks all for your responses. It is more for fun on this part to go alongside work trips and personal projects.</p> <p>In response to your question, I have a Canon eos 30 and using it with a 50mm 1.8. I have been advised that the superia is best for film ?</p>
  13. <p>Oh and also, I how do I know how far to roll the film into the camera? I bought 36 exposures, though are there any markings on the film to indicate where this starts from? </p>
  14. <p>Hi all,</p> <p>I recently decided to start shooting film and am interested to know about finishes and the differences between film types.</p> <p>There are a lot of different film types out there including manufacturers, is there anything I should know with regards to the types and different manufacturers? Do they offer different effects etc? I understand there are different ISO types available though.</p> <p>Near me, there is a lab dedicated to processing film and work with publications but also offer their services to the general public. Would there be any difference between using them and say, my local photo shop? <br> Thank you all in advance.</p>
  15. Hi David, That is DMF? It still focuses so I presume that means nothing is wrong? I called up Sony support and they just said you can auto focus and manual focus afterwards to adjust for accuracy of need be.
  16. Astrophotography I assume you meant by night photography? I use a 6D + 24-70mm lens and it is perfect. Might be worth checking out some prime lenses too, I find them to be sharper and on a full frame the detail will be fantastic.
  17. I have had a Canon printer for some time now (pro9000 mk2) and in some prints (always on BW prints) a green, sometimes blue sheen comes out on the paper and I was told this is called 'metamerism.' The colour is also tinted yellow sometimes green. Given the fact the printer cost me £450 I presumed this kind of thing wouldnt happen. I printed untouched images from the printer and did the same on a cheap office one and the cheap photo printer won! When I first bought it I wasnt really too clued up on print but now as I go on, I realise this is a problem, especially if I sell prints. I have ended up printing via a lock company. I was told a pigment based system would be better. Is this true? Will it really elinate this problem? (Nb: all heads have been cleaned/unclogged, New head installed)
  18. Hi guys, I recently bought a Sony a6000 + 50mm 1.8 and being more familiar to the Canon system I was unaware there was no auto/manual focus switch on the lens. Accidentally, while in auto mode I twisted the focus ring manually in confusion. It made me think. Is this lens designed to be used in such a way? There is nothing online to tell me whether this is the case or not. I know the camera has DMF but the lens is open to manually move while in auto mode too if kept in a bag. It's been bugging me all night, whether I have damaged the lens or not. Thank you!
