    I am restoring an Italian Rectaflex SLR. The camera is in top shape except that there is a lag when the shutter is operated. The curtains move well but at the end, it slows down. Someone told me it is lack of lubrication. If true, which one should I use? Thank you. EDUARDO

    I forgot to comment that upon testing the batteries in the camera by pushing down the top button, the needle does not move, yet upon testing each battery shows more voltage than the 1.5v stipulated. What is the meaning of this?

    My friends. thank you very, very much for such wonderful and interesting information. Now, to simplify things: a) Is the meter irreparable if not working properly? I found two old alkalines that showed correct voltage with a tester but upon installing in the camera, the meter does not operate. This means bad meter or bad batteries or both. b) If I only get alkalines, can they finally be used for ISO 100 black and white film? I won't have to go extremes in ISO since I mostly use ISO 100.

    Hello my friends. A friend of mine just gave me a beautiful Nikon Ftn camera. Excellent condition and I just can't wait to use it. I am having a problem: I need the batteries for the camera. They state PX13, RM-625R etc. I tried to find them locally but not easy to find or ¡ extremely expensive. I looked them on the web and also found LR9 replacement but it is alkaline. I read that alkalines are not good for my camera. What is your best advice? Thanks very much and greetings from Colombia. EDUARDO

    Hi Glen, thank you very much for your help. Now I find things a little more clear, but what about if I want to bring my enlarger to factory standards and use the incorporated switch? Any suggestions? Please see the attached photo I took of the circuit plan glued to the bottom of the metal cover. It seems it does't coincide with the colours of the cables. By the way, "tierra" means "ground" in Spanbuish

    Hello. If this thread is still alive, I have almost ready to use a mint Leitz Focomat 1c. The last step is to wire the unit. Can anybody help me with this issue? The photo shows the mess I discovered when I opened the black cover on the underside of the wooden base. I live in Colombia and the electric standards are the same as in USA. Thanks EDUARDO

    Good idea, thank you very much. Mr. Bruce Robbins has very nicely answered most of my questions on this fantastic enlarger. Two issues are still missing. I found a tiny hole (check photo) and I want to know what is missing here. Also, I know that the enlarger can hold a socket to connect the timer, also check the photo. Anybody out there can tell me if the original machine had this socket or it has to be supplied by the owner. Your help is appreciated.

    Hello my friends. Greetings from Colombia. I have just acquired an almost new, dirt cheap Leitz Focomat 1c enlarger. I was very lucky. However, being my first Focomat enlarger, I need lots of help on issues that either are not in the instructions manual or elsewhere on the web.     <p>Hello Martin, I never said it was "made in Germany". I know this apparatus was made in Japan. Also the beautiful Minox MX camera. Perhaps I didn't explain myself clear enough. The Acmel products, I mean the slitter and the MX were sold as Minox products. Any product sold under Minox brand must comply with Minox strict quality, therefore, it must be expensive because Minox is German and German products and intrinsically expensive. My cellphone is a Nokia E72. As you know, Nokia brand is Finnish. But my cellphone was made in China under strict Nokia quality control.<br> Best wishes!!<br> EDUARDO </p>

    <p>Perhaps you're right, Martin. But what I don't justify is speaking bad about the Minox slitter. as stated before, mine has worked flawlessly for several years and hundreds of rolls of film. And speaking about prices, don't forget that Germany is perhaps the richest country in Europe. This means everything there is expensive. Just check Leica cameras, Mercedes, BMW etc. etc. All with excellent quality, of course. That is why the Minox slitter was expensive. </p>

    <p>Although I agree that the JL splitter may be better than the Minox one, mine has worked for over 20 years, hard work, splitting lots and lots 35mm cassettes of film for me and friends of mine. No failure and it is still in excellent working condition. The nice thing about the JL splitter is that it is available BUT extremely expensive. Perhaps is worth it due to the fact that it is custom made. </p>
