great great light.
-
great contrast.
-
that's a heck of a big file, stan - you might want to reduce the size before posting.
-
well captured - the heat jumps off the sands
-
i find this ethereal and lovely. don't mind the ratings.
-
great expression.
-
great lighting. no,*really* great lighting.
-
light seems a bit harsh.
-
very nice. did you do a bit of burning here?
-
a little dark, imo
-
stunning in impact. very well done.
-
nice
-
i think it's a little too dark.
-
wow. wow, wow, wow. very very nice. i wish i could find something to "critique", but this is just about perfect.
ps. "only" a 600mm?
-
perhaps a little dark?
-
kind of like a test strip. i wonder how it would look if the background or the model stayed the same tone and the model/background changed?
-
you've got this type of shot down pat. was this really taken with a 200L?
-
great decisive moment. just wonderful.
-
very nice. best in the folder.

there's more here than just the blue shirt and mountains. nice positioning of the shape of the coast and where you positioned the girl in the frame. to me this is a great "magazine ad" type of photo, but i think it might have more impact if it was on a sunny day versus overcast. the overcast makes it kind of gloomy, and i think what you're trying to sell might be different than that. apologies if i got the message wrong, that's just my impression.

I had never been up to this area before, but I did plan to hit the area at peak colors and at sunset. Actually, a couple of photo.net members were a big help in nailing down the dates for peak colors in this area, which was even more pertinently helpful since I live 10 hours away from this spot!

taken from the rim of a valley (an overlook) with a zoom lens racked out to 300mm.
-
great use of telephoto compression. great balance, too. you must be related to those other wilsons to "relate" this scene so well. ;)

wow. powerful.

Played around with some street photography the other day. While
being generally shy and self-conscious about intruding on people's
privacy, I shot one roll asking folks to take their pic and one roll
in "stealth" mode. For most of this roll, I took my 50mm and held
the camera at sternum level, while trying to snap using my peripheral
vision. Most shots came out awful, but I kind of like this one.
Would love to hear people's thoughts on the ethics of street
shooting. My instinct is to ask people before shooting, but it seems
to me to be very difficult to capture the espirit of street through
posing. Any thoughts?
