Yes I agree. Nice composition and unique perspective. Would also work well to illustrate many different concepts.

    Beautiful nice catch!
  8. That is disappointing. Thank you for the update. I am sorry to here it has gone downhill so much.
  9. I posted a photo for critique yesterday. But it is not showing up. I tried removing it and posting it again but it still doesn't show up in seeking critique? The photo is an older photo that has been on the site for 5 or 6 years. I have posted others in the last week that work fine. I have not been on the site for quite a few years until recently and a lot has changed. I am unable to see any of the older comments on my photos. Also can not open photo of the day or photo of the week. Are these no longer working? Or do I need to subscribe? Very unclear????
  10. Very nice. I really like broad landscapes like this that look like a painted scene. Beautiful capture of the light too!

Thank you very much! I think they may be my favorite flower. I took about a zillion more photos of it but I liked the composition of this one. I greatly appreciate the feedback.
  14. Beautiful photo. I grew up in the northeast and I appreciated the title. My first though was oh that must be upstate NY. :-)

I think this is beautiful. I just really like it. It is a very peaceful photo. It gives a sense of calm.
  16. Wow I didn’t realize until I started research the level of controversy out there. Who knew? Well no one can say artists are not passionate! Lol. I looked a little on the depth of field difference. I mostly noticed a difference when you would want a short dof. But I shoot a lot of landscapes where I usually want a longer dof. I am not sure for me that will be as much of a factor as other things and I do keep coming back to the Olympus, even before I asked the question in the forum. However, I do need to look more into the lenses and the Nikon Zs that were mentioned. For me the quality of the IBIS will be a big factor as I tend to take handheld shots when I should be using a tripod. I appreciate all the advice as it is helping me narrow down what really is a concern for me and bringing up things I need to research that I didn’t even no might be a factor.
  17. Very nice capture of a simple moment in time.
  18. Thank you you are the third person to mention the D200 or D300. Clearly a well loved camera. I definitely want to invest in a tripod as well. Yes I try to be mobile but I get myself into situations. For instance yesterday I attempted a rather easy trail but after pulling myself up a very steep muddy embankment I realized This was not the trail and I was blocked by rather excessively large boulders. I briefly considered climbing down the bolder but ended up deciding on the wiser course of very slowly making my way back down the extremely steep muddy embankment. I then a attempted to take the actual trail (up the little man made stairs lol don’t know how I missed seeing those) but this involved stepping on some stones across a little creek water and a nice gentleman with some small children stopped me from stepping on a copperhead. At that point I headed back the way I had come. I should probably stick to more easily accessible spots. But also I probably won’t. Lol. So I probably need some light portable gear and also a tripod for when I realize it is not wise to risk copperhead bite or falling off a cliff to get closer.
  19. I agree the advice about figuring out what is limiting me is excellent. As to professional shots. I guess that is a little vague. I have seen exceptional amazing inspiring images on here created with nothing but an I phone. And I personally have gotten some beautiful images on my iPhone or my very old cannon powershot. So I guess what I should have said is I want a professional camera but I can’t afford one. So I am looking for a quality versatile camera that has a good reputation with more experienced photographers. However I do agree with the advice several have mentioned that I need to think more about what I need in my camera. I very much appreciate all the different advice and suggestions and helpful comments on some things to consider.
  20. Wow. Thank you. This gives me some things to think about that I had not considered. My eyesight is definitely something to factor in. I do find myself doing more telephoto or long focus shots so probably cropped would end up being better for me but I will do some research. Clearly I am really lacking knowledge. I am curious considering what the difference in focusing is in mirrorless vs DSLR is and if one would be better given my poor eyesight?
  21. Thank you. I will read that.
  22. Thank you that is very much where I want to be. I want a quality camera I can grow with but can’t afford top of the line.
  23. Thank you very much for the suggestion. I seriously appreciate your comments! I think this may be one of the Cameras that was on my radar a while back. I have to take another look at it. I guess pro quality really has more to do with me true. I would like my photos to be sharper which is mostly me. But Some of this is actually that I have a lot of difficulty seeing the screen sometimes. I wear glasses or contacts and have a very strong prescription. So probably just having an actual viewfinder so I don’t have to deal with glare as much will make a significant difference. But I guess I mean I want a camera with good range in ISO, etc with a good reputation for crisp images.
  24. Thank you. I am possibly able to go up to a thousand. It kind of makes me feel a little sick on my stomach though because that is a huge amount of money for me. So I would like to spend less if possible. I agree with the mirrorless. I bought a good SLR right before film sort of became unattainably expensive for mean and ended up barely using 5he camera because everything went digital. I am worried about spending huge money on DSLR when the newer technology is coming getting bigger. But I also think I can get more in a DSLR for less money. Either way I want to try to make sure to put money into something that can grow with me.
