  1. Thank you so much. I saw several others mention the D200 or D300. I will definitely look into this. I am possibly willing to go up to a thousand. I do want a good lens though. That is quire a bit less expensive than I realized.

  5. Hi my name is Jennifer. I haven’t been active on the site in several years. I find I still love beautiful things and seeing through the lens. I was introduced to photography over 20 years ago. However, I have never really had the financial means to get the equipment. Right now, I am pretty poor and limited to an iPhone and places very close to home. Thankfully I live in the beautiful Shenandoah valley of Virginia. I love weather, color, and the beauty and wonder of creation. I consider myself a newbie in many ways because of my lack of technical understanding of digital and almost zero knowledge of post processing. However, I believe photograghy isn't just about the rules, anymore than poetry is just about grammar. Simple love of it makes up for a lot. I would like to do this as more than a hobby but I need improvement in know-how and confidence. I always appreciate honest feedback and the unlimited experience of many members on the site.

  7. Hi everyone, I consider myself a newbie even though I fell in love with photography over 20 years ago. I have never been able to afford a DSLR and have pushed my little power shot and now my iPhone to there limit. I am finally really considering spending some real money on either a DSLR or mirrorless. I still cannot afford a professional camera but I want to be able to get closer to professional pictures. I am attracted to the mirrorless because I like the portability aspect. But I am just not sure what the best options are? I am just not familiar enough to know what to look for. Does anyone with experience have suggestion on DSLR or mirrorless that is in the middle (not pro but not low end), portable, and they feel gives them pro-looking shots? If it helps I mostly shoot nature and landscapes but I am not as young as I used to be so I cannot always tackle the terrain and tend to zoom more than I would like. So I do know I need good image stabilization, and telephoto lens options. Thank you for any help.

    The last flower

Just playing around with a new app. This was a saved flower from a bouquet that had all died so I stuck it in a shot glass it simply made a nice subject to play around with my camera app.

Love the way they are all facing the same direction. They appear like they are all looking at something we can’t see. Love the serenity of this.

    Spring

This did not jump out at me but it did draw me in and after looking very much grew on me. It is very suddle and quiet. I sort of want the tree that almost gets lost to be on the right but at the same time I kind of like that it isn’t. It is like a little treasure you discover when you really look.
  19. I am just an amateur but this is simply stunning. You are clearly a pro. All your photos that I looked at were beautiful but this was a favorite for its composition and simplicity.

    In the gate

Love the color, the framing, and the painting like effect. Also nice job with the lighting and capture of detail in the shadowed area. I notice the depth in the picture. I only have a point and shoot, but I have always had trouble with getting good exposure when I am trying to get both the foreground and distance clear. I am sure you have much more experience and more versatile equipment. But I think this is a great shot. You made it look easy when for a lot of people this would be a difficult shot to really pull off. And I really love the lady in yellow.
