Scott, This one needs no explanation. Unless the result of a ricochet, the shooter had a keen eye. Nice timing! (by both photographer & shooter) In keeping with the spirit of this forum I'd suggest a bit of post work to get rid of the greenish tinge & neutralize the colour balance. Best, Len.

    The Shadow!

By 'the vintage' feel I suspect you mean the B&W presentation. That was my goal. (pardon pun) I've included the colour version in my answer to Mike, above. Always good to hear from you. Best, Len.

    The Shadow!

We have enjoyed both hockey and baseball on our 39" LED TV but watching the games live is indeed the way to go if you have modestly deep pockets. (cost for the grand-kids popcorn is almost the price of the tickets). :-) You even get replays on the Jumbotron. Anticipating where the action will be at it's peak is still a challenge for me. Best, Len.

    The Shadow!

What was I thinking? World series NOT a tie at this moment. Wishful thinking on my part I guess. :-) Stay tuned! Best, Len.

    The Shadow!

I'm not really a hockey fan either. This was only the second game I've attended in the past 10 years. Just enjoy photographing the action. Baseball, on the other hand.........................! (who wouldn't be a fan these days?) Great series so far, Jays vs Royals, after last night, all tied up now at 2 games apiece. Really great teams. (no matter who wins the World Series) These hockey players are in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) which is one of the leagues where the Pro (NHL) players are chosen from. Below is the colour version. Your choice! Best Len.

    Spawning Rainbow Trout

There's nothing wrong with your eyes. The very clear water was only 2 or 3 inches deep, so their backs were indeed out of the water. Quite a treat for my eyes. Serendipity strikes again! Best, Len.

    Happy New Year!!

You've captured a beautiful natural expression here, likely because he was unaware you were taking his photo. Kids in general often sport unnatural expressions when they suspect you are taking their photo. Were this my photo I would crop out most of the guy standing behind and clone out the rest. I bet your subject's parents would like a copy. Best, Len.
  10. An every day scene in our neighborhood. Except for the guy in the foreground. Nobody wears hats any more. :-) Not sure what your art form is called but I'm sure you could find a market for it somewhere. Yours is a fertile mind for sure. Best, Len.
  11. Not much colour here so I decided the shapes, textures, & tones were most important. Thus the monotone conversion.  Thanks for your interest. Best,Len.

    DESERT GRAND PRIX

Sorry for the confusion. Like these snails carrying their house with them (no wonder they're slow) there are days when it's hard to make any progress. Hope that clears things up a bit. Best, Len.
  15. Under the right lighting conditions, dark storm clouds and lightning, I imagine this would take on a real spooky atmosphere. I think I saw a figure at the topmost window but when I looked again it was gone. Could just be my imagination. :-) Best, Len.

    Building

There is optical trickery at play here, provided solely by your subject's orientation on the page. Turns an ordinary scene into a visual treat (challenge?) . I'll try to remember that technique. Best, Len.

    The drummer

He seems content, waiting for his next gig. Good street shot.  Best, Len.

    Music in the Church

A bit different from your usual B&W street shot.  Demonstrates your additional depth.  Classic pose, body turned slightly away from the light source- head turned back toward the light source.  A bit of easy Photoshop work would eliminate the out of focus lighter background object near the scroll & peg box of the violin.  Best, Len.

    DESERT GRAND PRIX

Yah, some days it's just tough to get going, feeling like you are dragging an anchor.  I'll save this offering for one of those days.  Maybe I'll use it today!  :-)  Best, Len.
  20. This is definitely one time that the 2:3 ratio is absolutely necessary.  All the elements fit nicely while giving the viewer a real sense of place. Wonderfully composed & exposed.  Your reward for getting up early.  (I know, you were just up for a bathroom break)  :-)  Best, Len.

    Spawning Rainbow Trout

My viewpoint was a bridge abutment at the shoreline.  These fish were about 20 ft. away.  Most wild animals are beautiful in their natural habitat.  It's a bonus when we can successfully capture this on film or digitally.  The spawning bed is that light area in the bottom right corner.  Looks like they are heading for another round of ecstasy.  And they did.  :-)

    Spawning Rainbow Trout

And now for the rest of the story...............!  While I was watching these two do what is necessary for the continuation of the species a much smaller male came to join the party.  (hoping for a menage a trois perhaps?)  But the much larger male had other plans.  The links below show the  melee that followed.  Thanks for your participation.  Best, Len.

    Spawning Rainbow Trout

Nice to hear from you again. I was actually at my favourite birding spot in Collingwood when I heard a commotion in the river. This was what I found when I investigated. Watched for about a 1\2 hour. These two would have filled your pan & fed eight people easily. Best, Len.
