Was bored one rainy winter day. Futzed around with a laser point & camera on bulb. Multiple shots. Each one colored in Photoshop in different layers...
A number of years ago the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh hosted a Dal Chihuly art glass exhibit - where his works were incorporated into their hothouse. A really interesting experience. Made you realize how organic his extraordinary pieces of art glass
Thanks for the compliment Giangiorgio! I adore shooting in B&W. I try to 'see' in B&W. Those Paris shots, for example: some were shot with film/negative & others were digital & shot on a day when I decided to shoot only B&W. So on a day like thats I set my camera to 'Monochrome' mode & shoot with filters in front of the lens - yellow for nice architecture shots, red to make the sky in landscapes pop more, and so on. [i have used the Cokin filter system since the 90s - really nice & easy filter holder with slide in slots that fits quickly on different lenses.] That makes for minimal post-hoc adjustment - maybe just S-curve or perhaps brightness/contrast. I prefer to do most things at the time of shooting the image. I sometimes convert some color shots that I do not like to B&W - that can make them better, but I do that only infrequently.
Hi Vincent, Yep. I edited the S-curve a bit on this one. This was an iPhone shot! One really cold late Fall morning I went outside to see some friends off - who had stayed a few nights with us. There was a really amazing hoar frost. I could not run inside & get my decent camera gear, but went for the iPhone shot instead. The cameras in those phones never cease to amaze me - they can be excellent for macro shots... -Aina
Beautiful detail of the features on the wings. You are right about the Mediterranean light - makes the image really pop & lens perform well. I shot one of these butterflies in my garden one summer & it was a fairly overcast, darkish day. I have it in my photostrem, but the image does not have that beautiful lightness like yours.
J'adore le détail dans cette photo. Le regard du faucon est formidable! Vous êtes vraiment expert avec l'appareil photo!!! C'est incroyable que vous avez pris cette photo 'avec la main'... -Aina
This is an incredibly harmonious image. I really like the color pallette here & the side lighting really makes the different surfaces/textures really pop. Delightful! - Aina
