2.
I have a Russian 20mm finder, I think. [or is it 21mm?]

 3.
I find it very satisfying to use a Leica camera of any age. I love my Standard Leica as I love my M9.

 4.
It i 2016 now. How do you feel about your Rollei 40/2.8 Sonnar M?

 5.
Gus: I meant you with my reply that everybody has an opinion. You have an opinion, and others have also opinions that may be different from yours.

 6.
Every person has an opinion. I am more interested in photography and in enjoying the images that I manage to create.

 7.
Peter Karbe gave us a 75 minute presentation on Leica optics when we visited Leica in Wetzlar last May. He repeatedly stated that Leiva lenses should be only used wide open.

 8.
I use each week the M8 side by side with the M9. I enjoy very much using the M8.

 9.
Cairo is not a safe city anymore. Don't carry lots of cash on you as you walk around there.

 10.
Hello Bonsignore Ezio,
Thank you very much for your insightful tips. We were last summer in Cinque Terre, which is a beautiful place to visit (briefly). Nothing has been yet set for next summer's visit, and maybe a compromise can be reached where we take the train from Rome to some town close to Amalfi, and then hire a driver/van?
Italy is a beautiful country and we will try to fully enjoy our family trip there.

 11.
I have to watch my blood pressure, so I will most likely skip for the time being the drive south of Rome, and instead will target the Portofino area.

 12.
I have also used my 80-200/4L on a micro 4/3 camera to get a 160-400/4L zoom. The M 4/3 camera has a built-in Image Stabilizing system to make hand-held photography easy with such a lens.

 13.
David: we are also considering such an alternative. It is a different beauty.

 14.
Thanks for your input, Stephen and David. It is right now still early for making any decisions beyond the fact that we start out from Rome. I don't plan to do any driving while we will be in Rome.

 15.
I am considering a trip to the Amalfi Coast from Rome. It sounds as if the majority of online feedback state that it is best to leave behind rental cars and use other methods of transportation. Have you been to this part of Italy? What are your recollections?

Thanks.
Raid

 16.
You will love your 80-200/4L lens. I first got the "non-L" 80-200 zoom, which I used extensively for about 20 years, followed by the 70-210 Angenieux zoom lens. Then only did I get a 80-200/4L. These three zoom lenses are excellent overall, in my opinion, based on my results over the years.

 17.
It would cost a large amount of money to produce these days a new Summicron DR with the same specifications and craftmanship. The (standard) Rigid Summicron is an amazingly good lens too.

 18.
Hi Stephen,
Thanks. I am actually following your explanations well. I own a collapsible Summicron and a Rigid Summicron, followed by a DR Summicron. These lenses are great lenses overall.

 19.
Thank you rajmohan. I have never used a Sony digital camera, but I take your word for it being a great match for the DR.

 20.
Thank you Stephen. I back up all my saved images. I look at the photos each day.
My lens was made in 1958, with meters in the distance scale. Is this "Version 1"?

 21.
Hello John,
The kids are getting older, and I am getting busier at work too, so the photo sessions are getting briefer and less frequent. Thanks.
The DR without the goggles can be bought for a very reasonable price, and it really performs beautifully on M 4/3 cameras. I am sure that the DR and the Rigid Summicron behave in a very similar fashion if both lenses are well maintained and CLA's as needed.

 22.

 23.
I finally got a DR Summicron. It came to me without its goggles. I already have a Rigid Summicron (or two), and I was curious to check out the claim or myth that the DR is "extra sharp" somehow. I knew beforehand that the DR does not work (well) on the M8 or M9 unless the lens gets modified, but then it loses its unique close-focus capabilities. Until I work out the details on what to do with this lens, I am enjoying using it on an old model Olympus E-P2 M 4/3 camera. The view is that of a 100mm lens, so it is useful for portraits.
