The sharp contrast between the cold sky and mountain tops on the one hand and the warm foreground on the other is nicely dramatic. It's a photo that has plenty of atmosphere.

This is a fine scene of windswept solitude. There is some degree of over-exposure, however, which loses a part of the sky and takes colour from the landscape. Nonetheless, it is an evocative photo.
  1. Beautiful image. For me, what gives particular unity to the photo is the superposition of convex and concave arcs in the composition, formed by the shape of the deadwood, the curve of the forest and the dome of the mountain.

I recognise this one: Lough Tay in the Wicklow Mountains, Ireland. The photo captures some of the beauty of the place, but I think the large swathes of darkness also cloak a little too much of that beauty.
  2. This is a beautiful landscape, with a nice contrast between the warm rock in the foreground and the colder blues of sky and mountain. The HDR effect is definitely on the 'painterly' side.

Truly a captivating portrait! , I love the hint of independence that one can see in the eyes and that is also conveyed by the wild abandon of the hair.
  3. There is very much to like in this shot. The lighter, warmer colours on the frozen water stand in nice contrast to the darker, sterner rock of the mountain. It's a pity, as you say, that the lower flank of the mountain and middle ground are lying in shadow, but it's still a fine photo.
