1.
The ME Super is one of the smallest SLR cameras ever made by Pentax and indeed any other manufacturer, it was Pentax response to Maitanis Olympus OM1,the only SLR that comes to mind that is smaller then the ME Super is the Pentax *ist.
The KR-10 is a good solid K mount SLR, I have a feeling it was made by Cosina with one eye on the Nikon FE. I always preferred its siblings the Ricoh XR-2(s) they shared the same basic design but the XR-2 added a few extra functions like a depth of field preview button which both the Me-Super and KR-10 lack. The KR-10 has the superior match needle metering system similar to the Pentax KX with aperture priority which I have always preferred to the ME Super sysytem of coloured LED lights. I'll admit the LED system is better under poor light conditions though.
The ME super has a faster shutter 1/2000sec as opposed to the KR-10 fastest speed of 1/1000sec and everyone will tell you that the ME Super has one of the brightest viewfinders to be found on any SLR ever built.
If the KR-10 is going cheaply I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up though, apart from a lack of depth of field preview it is a great camera and if the batteries die it will continue shooting because X (1/90 second) is mechanical and not battery dependent.
If your heart is set on a Pentax I would recommend the Pentax Super A ( Super Program in some markets) with 1.7 50mm KA lens with you can use on your dSLR or the tiny Pentax *ist if you can find one.

 2.
Jim the picture you posted of the 'Blue Mosque' in SultanAhmet,Istanbul is actually The Hagia Sophia the building on the otherside of the square. It was famous for having the largest dome for over 1000 years and is now a world heritage site.
I too prefer to use a compact when I'm travelling on holiday, on this occasion I used an Olympus MjuII and fuji 200 film. Mainly because it's light and I have a spare if anything had happened to it, which it didn't.
3.
Sorry to hear that J.C., but my response was really for Somanna. Yes generally KX's go for more then K1000's and so they should, after all they are the top of the line mechanical model in the K series, but I have seen them go for less, sometimes you have to be patient. Yes with models like the KX,MX,LX people know what they have, but the sale price is determined by the demand. At any given moment there will be more people looking for a K1000 then a KX. The K1000 was cheaper, more popular and manufactured for decades.ebay is a strange thing, I paid more for my chrome KX with a 55mm SMC 1.8 lens then I did for my black KX with a 1.4 50mm SMC and yet the black model is in better condition. Prices go up and down. The KX was only manaufactured for a very short time period and so harder to find and when you do find one it normally comes with a better standard lens which is more often then not, desireable in itself. The KM normaly goes for less then the K1000 though it is a higher spec model, because few people even know they exist. It's always good to do your own research and get what you really want or like and if you subsequently decide you don't like it, sell it on to someone who does.I'm sure they will appreciate it.
We all have limited budgets but I find home developing black and white film literally costs me pennies.I've calculated for an initial outlay that was the same as having 4 black and white films developed by a lab, I can develop 100 films at home! and now I have the changing bag and Patersons daylight developing tank all I have to buy in the future are the chemicals, so it will cost even less. I haven't even tried developing film in coffee and washing soda yet . . .

 4.
The K1000 is something of a 'cult' camera,a Spotmatic with a Pentax K mount that was recommended for many years by photography teachers as a good starter camera. If I remember correctly there are 3 different versions out there, the original fully metal 'Made in Japan' version and SE being the most desireable. If you don't plan to get lots of bodies I have to recommend the original 35mm Pentax KX the K1000's big brother and for me the ultimate Spotmatic. It has everything the K1000 has plus mirror lock up and a depth of field preview button. It does use 2 batteries but its match needle metering is superior to the K1000's. In many ways if you already have a Spotmatic you may not even need a K1000.Dust it off, I use mines to get that vintage look with black and white film exclusively.

 5.
It's in the viewfinder. Unfortunately you may well have to open the top to blow out the dirt and dust thats build up over time. I'm not a fan of dirty viewfinders either but in some cases you have to live with it. I spent about 6 hours last month clearing out a Pentax SV the difference before and after is like night and day. I find the best SLR's that are easiest to clean are the ones where the screen pops out like the Canon T90, Olympus Om2n, Pentax SFXN. Incidently if the light seals/mirror shock absorbing strips are degrading be very careful not to get it onto the fresnel, the sticky goo is impossible to remove from some fresnel screens.

 6.
Without knowing your budget I would recommend the Olympus OM2n. Every OM2 has a virtual OM1 thanks to manual mode as well as aperture priority. Get one which has had a recent service and it should serve you well for the next 20 years.
If you're considering the Pentax MX,ME,ME Super also consider the Me F model it has the same modes as the ME Super plus focus confirmation. I have to agree with Zane the Pentax Super A (Super Program in some countries) is a good choice because it feels far more substantial, it has six exposure modes with Pentax KA lenses and a depth of field preview lever which only the MX has, in the Pentax M series.
No matter which body you go for buy the best lenses you can afford, you'll be glad you did.
