  1. Somewhere along the way, I bought a Canon FD 50 1.4. I already owned a 50 1.8, and I own more 50m lenses than you can shake a stick at (more on that later). Nevertheless I couldn't help myself and got the 1.4, tempted by its' legendary IQ. According to this thread at dpreview, the modern EF 50 1.4 is based on the FD 50 1.4. Of course, as these things go, the moment I bought the lens it sat unused in my closet for probably the last 5 years until this last Christmas when I decided to see what was in there. Intrigued, I mounted it on my Fuji and took it to the Edith Read Wildlife Sanctuary for a spin. Since it was a bit of a grim day, I thought it best to put it through its paces with some texture shots. I'll let you judge the results. These are almost all straight OOC JPEGs, using a preset B&W "Green" setting (except the color shot of the dog, which was shot in the Velvia setting).
  2. Thanks, SCL and Bruce! Mike - I remember your stories about your family's camera shop. You must have had a wonderful child hood. mjferron - I'm glad you're picking up your Auto S2. Magnificent lens on that camera.
  3. Many thanks for the nice comments Rick and Dave. Rick - I'm glad to see you're still here. I've snuck back in here every once in a while to check out your latest acquisition. I also love your landscape shots of Martinborough. I've been to Wellington, but never ventured to the wine country. Perhaps I'll buy a you Speights at the local pub when I do? Dave - thanks, and I'm glad to meet another Konica enthusiast. I blame Rick for the size of my collection of Konicas - I got jealous of all his lovely gear and had to get some for myself. I have a few bits of Konica glass, which I'm going to put through their paces from now on.
