I wasn't sure what category to put this in much less being sure of
what it is. Every once in awhile I'm motivated to get out and do a self
portrait. In this case I wanted to try some lighting with a nice sky
coupled with having a dear friend who works for Dap in Baltimore.
Comments and critiques are very welcomed.

After a week in the Florida Keys we stopped by the Everglades for a
couple of hours and was presented with this treat. Shot handheld
with a 7D and 100-400L. One question I have: have I pushed the
saturation too far for this bird? So many times they are seen in poor
light and are dull to the naked eye. Thanks for your comments.

Wanghan: Thanks for the nice comment.
Alan: Thank you for the suggestions. I believe you are correct in the lighting comments. I've been playing around with this. I've printed it on several 13 X 19 papers including Red River Polar Pearl Metallic and before I go larger will play around with some changes. (I'm amazed how much better it looks in print)
Thank you both. Richard

Greetings. I recently dug this up from almost a year ago to print.
Comments and suggestions welcome. Thanks. Richard

My wife and our friend Monte recently took a week in the Fla. Keys and on two of those days fished with Capt. Michael Vaughn who turns out is a member here. On this day I caught this shot with the sun behind his back giving a hard silhouette of Michael and Karen. Michael is a great guide and conversationalist/conservationist and highly recommend him.
I did use a polarizer for this shot.

Thanks Glenn for the comments.'
John: I had a 580EX II on a bracket with a diffuser and for this it was bouncing straight up with some of the light from the diffuser directed toward the subject.

I was shooting a community event the other day for a friend and I
caught this.

I still use one once in awhile for small amounts of meat!

I like her face but I'm left wanting to see her eyes brighter.

I'm attracted to the color palate. Basic, simple... nice.

The background blurring job needs a lot of work if you want to go that route. There is a wedge of background not blurred between her right neck and hair and between her legs. That coupled with the very loose borders all around her (interface of her skin and the blur) make it a bit messy. If it was intended to be that way it isn't working for me.

Although it was probably a spontaneous snapshot I think you captured a nice story. I like the colors and contrast. Very nice.

Very nice. I enjoy your work and look forward to seeing more. Richard

While everything is near perfect the greenery hiding his face spoils the shot..... so close.

Very pleasing to look at. Thanks for showing it.

I've looked at the series and I really like most of them. For reasons I'm not sure of... I like this the least.
There are two spots on her right chest that may be dust on the sensor or perhaps skin blemishes. They could easily be fixed. I noticed them on the 2nd look.

I like it!

I also think the yellow is too much. If it is an older photo look it needs to be toned down. I think it would be appropriate to touch up her facial blemishes. Richard
