  1. On most cameras, the photos are stored in folders on the card and not directly at the front. For instance, my Nikon D200

stores them in a folder 100ND200 within a folder called DCIM. I'm fairly sure your D300 does something similar and you'll

have to navigate a bit. See screenshot.

When you look in the Windows Explorer (or Mac OS Finder) do you see a bunch of files? Or none at all?

If you're shooting NEF (Nikon Electronic File, "RAW") you will probably need some photo-editing software on your

    computer.

If you haven't already, start by downloading a 30-day trial version of Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or

    Lightroom,

all available for both PC and Mac. If you're on a Mac, the included iPhoto should be able to handle them once you've

    located

    the files.<div>00RUqs-88615684.jpg.5dab62ddeb67c2ebeb7ec2c6fcd73464.jpg</div>

  2. John: you can find the moderators of a particular forum by going to its index page. At the right

hand side you'll find an "About this forum" section briefly explaining the purpose of the forum and listing its moderators. You may need to

scroll down a bit to find it.

  3. You can't, or at least not yet and when this feature becomes available it will only allow you to edit your

posts for a limited amount of time (e.g., a few minutes) to correct spelling mistakes etc. that you didn't

    catch in the preview.

For now, you can contact a moderator of the forum and ask her/him to edit your post.

Thanks for trying to figure out how to remove your signature!

  4. <p>Here we go. Small font by default, it would appear, and not the same font as the messages already present. <span style="font-weight: bold;">Bold.</span> <span style="font-style: italic;">Italic.</span> <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Underlined.</span> <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Strike that.</span></p>

<p>I want <a title="Apple website" href="http://www.apple.com">this</a> to be a link. Hmmm, agree with whoever commented about adding a link.</p>

    <p>A picture would be nice</p>

    <p> </p>

    <p><img src="http://d6d2h4gfvy8t8.cloudfront.net/3793014-sm.jpg" alt="Bla" width="199" height="133" /></p>

    <p> </p>

<p>Too bad the edit box is so small; I'd like it taller. Also, Safari's textarea resize function doesn't seem to understand this new-fangled control.</p>

    <p> </p>

<p>But these are just minor issues, I think. It works just fine. (There's two "enters" above this line).</p>

  5. The POW icon, like all other icons, is supposed to be indicative of the current or recent situation. Just like you lose film

cannisters (batteries, beer cans, whateveries) if you haven't posted recently, or lose your ribbon-with-number to indicate

your subscriber status if you do renew your subscription, you lose the POW icon when it "expires."

  6. When viewing a folder, click on the "Admin options" tab (top right corner), then select "Edit folder title and set visibility".

The same Admin options also has a "Move photos" link. When you click it, a list of photos appears. You can select more

than one photo by using shift + mouseclick and/or control + mouseclick (apple + mouseclick on Apple Mac computers). It

works just like selecting files in the Windows Explorer.

  7. JPEG really is the better option for photos on the web.

In Photoshop, you can make a photo pretty much any size you like. Go to Image, Image Size (Alt + Command + I on the

Mac; I'm sure Windows users will report their shortcut keys). Make sure "Constrain Proportions" is checked. Enter a height

and width that you like, but make sure that both numbers do not exceed 1500. Click OK and use File, Save for Web. Use

"JPEG High" or "JPEG Very High" to save to a new file. Upload that new file.

  8. The Beginner Forum requires moderator approval before postings can be read. I guess the index page doesn't take that into

account and simply shows the number of postings made, approved or not. I'll look into the pending messages. (Hopefully

Jin c.s. can look into the index page issue.)

  9. Also, I've just sent you an e-mail. I copied the address from your photo.net page and used my computer to send it. If

you've received it, then apparently we have the right address on file. If you don't receive any messages from the website itself (like forum alerts), then somewhere messages from the photo.net computers must get blocked.

(You can test it by clicking "Notify me of Responses" at the bottom of this discussion and then post a response.)
