Regret slow to reply, Gerry. I appreciate your kudos. This was actually scanned from a BW print. I may have had to soften it slightly to overcome some of the uneveness that resulted from graininess. I tried to bring it as close to the way it appeared in the New York Times ad (some years ago). They had the benefit of professional retouching.
I enjoyed seeing your work again.

The feeling of an ancient Chinese masterpiece. Love it.

This is a lovely use of window light - my favorite source. Great comradery and closeness of the subjects.

I love window light, particularly when it emulates the school of Flemish painting, particularly Vermeer. The "girl reading a letter" has the same color scheme, but her attention is directed at her letter. So it is full of subtext. We do not know the contents, which could be either good or bad. This photo is a beautiful portrait of a young lady, directing her gaze at the onlooker. Perhaps she is patiently waiting for someone. But, I think it could be further enhanced. There are no props or other details for why she is waiting there with a somewhat uncomfortable positioning of her knees on the brick. If Michal wanted to think about a scenario, keeping the nostalgic approach, he could add more detail in the foreground. Maybe she stopped to rest with a basket of bread next to her, overlapping her skirt and partially hiding her legs. Or perhaps for a more compelling tighter perspective, he could crop into the skirt at the bottom and some of the background to her right, leaving some of the shadowed area for mystery. The mood and portrayal are magical. I guess I am just looking for more subtext.

These colors and soft focus effects are magical. It is no accident of nature, but your own art and design that ring out here. Fun for you to shoot and fun for me to look at.

This is a nice, moody approach. I would call it cinematic. The lights are on because of the wet street and it is full of atmosphere and anticipation.
I think you will enjoy the site more when you start commenting on other members photography and get feedback from them. You will have a whole library of your high rated shots for reference and enjoyment. Your photos deserve higher ratings than you are getting.

I read your forum post, and if you meant by "raw" - straight out of the box, there is a lot you can do before uploading to make sure that the photo will appear like you see it in your mind's eye. First make sure it is jpg and the proper size. But you can check the color "profile" to see if it is being color managed (your camera may have a setting for Adobe or other profiles).
When you upload to the internet it will automatically change to SRGB, the international web format, losing saturation and gaining contrast. So convert it first and you will get a preview of what it should look like. To demonstrate what you may have lost, I have attached this version with added saturation and lightening of the darker areas.
I did not see excessive grain and your work is beautiful.
Have a pleasant day,

This is intense, Jorge. Amazing moment of action and calm. I like the soft background and movement of the wings. And the piercing eye.

A stunning effect, which could make a ride on an escalator quite interesting. I don't usually like to look down, but I would hold tight and go for it. Beautiful!

The thumbnail grabbed me. Then I got the big surprise. A girl is burning ... reminded me of Hieronymous Bosch on steroids.
In closer examination I noticed Jennifer's flowing hair. Great touch. And I saw the relationship to the girl on the steps. A great companion piece.
Nice work,

This is a great companion piece for "Jennifer in Hell". I love your multilayered reality. Almost 3-D.
Maybe a new way to advertise hair products. That is some head of hair!
Cheers and best regards, Leora
