1.
Yes there is a Noise reduction option it is on and has been for a long while. I was really wondering if these were infact telling signs that she is on life support. Thanks for the thoughts.
David you should tell your wife.... Camrys need new tires and breaks too. My wife and I just put new tires on her 2008 last week, and last reg maintaince they replaced all the breaks.(There was a tech alert on the breaks so they just replaced them, score!)
Although the money she probably saves in gas and other maintance cost can not be over looked. :) I also drive a toyota product. 2009 Scion TC. So if I am hearing your right I need a D50? :)
2.
Hello all,
I have had my D40 for about 2 years now. I have run probably, 100K photos through it(oh how you progress with time). I am noticing now that there is significantly more noise in the photos I am taking now; to when I started. I also noticed that it is having swings in the metering as well. Lastly I am noticing a few burnt pixels in some of my pictures. Usually more noticeable with longer exposures.
Could this be an indication that she is running on empty? No need to post pictures, I have already done all the comparisons, she is more noisy then when I first got her, and the other indicators are definitely happening.
Just curious if I will soon have to explain why I need a D300! :)
Thanks,
3.
More from our trip to Europe! Here we were at the peak in the Swiss Alps. Beautiful!!! From here we sat on the side of the Mountain for as long as we could, feet hanging over the edge, slight breeze, 70F degrees, sun shining, the only thing we could here was the cow bells from the base of the mountain. Stunning, and surreal, and awe inspiring!

00V2W7-191967784.jpg.df47e6c05fe5ff0b84c6118c22ed3f14.jpg

  4.
Hello Everyone. I am back from my couple weeks of touring Europe! Here is a statue of Dante in the open square of Florence. So many picutres to choose from. Many weeks of Wednesday Pics to come. :)

00Uyqn-189443584.JPG.0757ab5b3c5bd93c099fe866fae78898.JPG

  5.
Gwen that is funny. I have a shot of a home on the water surrounded by palm trees, that was taken at 85mph, out of the pasanger side window traveling to Key West. My father loved it so much he blew it up to 24X36 and it is hanging on his wall at his house. :)

  6.
My Photo this week is nothing special, I am gearing up for 18 day Europe trip. London, France, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, London. In that order. So I will miss a few Wednesday pics. Bu I will post when I come back. This weeks entry I was out shooting my continueing project to capture a Series "Florida Piers" and There were other photographers there with a few cute models I must say. This is a public beach and these women were not wearing much. But this guy decided it was ok to.....play with his equipment...and the police showed up a few mminutes later. The pier is in the background too.... :)

00Uk4b-180273984.JPG.8fee5fa3bb75a822e5e76ecd9dcc61b7.JPG

  7.
Wow I feel silly this is something that as soon as it was mentioned, was a duh moment.
And I feel like this is also one that my brain should work out on my own. Im sure I am off, because I feel off, if the widest F stop is the determining factor in how fast the lens is...
Would that make the size of the front element determine defraction, and other physical charactoristics the reason there is such a difference in the size? That make sense? I really need a good night sleep...I guess the easy way to ask would be Why is there a differnce?
Thanks.

  8.
I tried searching, but there is way too much non topical information to dig through to get what I need. I also google'd it, and bing'd it. Same result.
I have a tech question about the relative difference between the amount of light entering the camera on a say 55mm lens vs a 77mm lens? if the larger opening allows for more light to enter the camera wouldn't by result the 77mm lens be a faster lens?
If I took the same shot, under all the same conditions, with a 55mm at F7.1 at under A-mode. The resulting metering is 1/500th. Would the 77mm at 7.1 as under A-mode be 1/1000th ?
Obviously the numbers are just to clarify the question.
Thanks Dallas

  9.
Well until everything is settled, I will go with what has been working. Shot yesterday morning, a rising sun behind a great blue heron purched atop a cluster of young trees. These trees were home to many birds just a few months ago, now just a few still hang out regularly. I believe this is still the immature heron that has been there all these months. His nest was there just a few weeks ago, not sure he digs change much. neither do the anhingas that are still partying just below him out of sight.

00UgJr-178573584.jpg.4fe66037a317f01bf9a4188d0a4ed3d1.jpg

Hummmmm Lex -
only use photo.net's portfolio space..... I'm not for that idea. Presently I'm only allowed seven photos on photo.net from what I know. I would have to pay for more. Granted not a huge cost, but since I'm already paying for {insert anything in here, food, gas,etc}........ Also, I've dealt with the photo.net rating system & I stopped using it because I didn't like it all that much.
Oh - my end goal is not to retain full control as doing that ends the minute we post in a thread like this.....

Agreed! Also I really hate the idea of the load time being the end all of the tread as it take no time for it to load on my machine. There are too many variables from machine to machine. Not fair. Also if your job is the moderator, then that is what you do. Please do not tell us how bad your job is. LEX says "it takes time for moderators."

  11.
Hello Everyone,
Did not have much time to shoot this week, huge visits from the Corp Office. But who cares about that? This was taken a last week; I could not decide between this one and one of the iguana that was right in front of our door. But as I resized the iguana it lost everything I loved about the shot. His sharp scaly skin. I also have no where to link a larger size to so. Here is one of an Great Egret, feeding on a Mosquito fish caught while hunting in the spatterdock covered water. Anyone know a good web guy/gal? :)

00Ucbp-176833584.jpg.14bace36f83f3c9cfdb3b6bcab3e58fd.jpg

  12.
Hello All,
If I wanted a DX, wide angle, standard zoom lens not made by Nikon(budgetary concerns) but for Nikon

Mount, what would be a great choice.
Budget - $500Max
I have been looking at Tamron 17-50mm F 2.8. I only Have Nikon Glass now and am leery about buying

an "off" brand. That MM range is what I am looking for or even wider say 10-24ish types.
I am sorry for this thread, I hate these. I do not know about the other brands of glass, and there are too

many options. Reading specs online is not the same as first hand experiance from acutal users.

    <

    p>Thanks in advance,

  13.
Taken Yesterday, The Tri-Colored Heron is my absolute Favorite bird. There is no shortage of cool and exciting birds here in South Florida, but they fit my personality. While hunting , they often yell and scream and jump around. So funny to watch.

00UYnQ-174989784.jpg.f3cfd17cfb4cb487225641d23128ff3b.jpg

  14.
I have never been on a safari, but I have to D40 and I also have the 70-300 VR. I am really happy with the the lens. I am not sure if that will have the reach and it is not compatable with any of the teleconverters.
The unfortunate thing is with your budget there is nothing else as good, that is going to give you more reach.

  15.
Hello all,
While doing some post work the other day I noticed a major difference in the programs I use. I use Windows photo gallery to weed out the blurry, not in the right position, eyes closed, etc. because of the ability to quickly flip through and ease of deletion. I then use picture project, and lightroom to edit. When I was flipping back and forth I noticed a major issue for me, and want you guys to chime in.
The amount of noise and general distrortion between the programs is quite dramatic. My problem with this is, when I send out my work to the people to proof, a lot of them are using Widows Photo gallery as their default program(I called and confirmed this). I also looked through the other programs installed on my computer with similar results.
Now just a general complaint, I can not instruct people to download trial versions or buy software to see the "Actual" "Better" product. I do not know where to go with this but I am concerned that the work they are looking at is not how I thought it was going out.
Thoughts?
Thanks.
