  1. Hi Lacee-

Good job finding interesting natural light, but this is a little overexposed. The bright areas are blown out. Watch for your highlights. Once they are blown like this no amount of post processing will make them look normal. I think if this were darker, it would create a completely different mood and draw the eye more towards the strong side light and the glow of the orange leaves.

Thanks for sharing. Keep shooting! :)

    Jack-

I pulled up the PN home page today and this immediately caught my eye. I love stuff like this. I see scenes like this from more of an artist's viewpoint than a photographer's viewpoint. I am drawn to the texture and pattern in this scene. It invites the mind to create something else. I personally think that the whole building looks like an animated creature in some anime. It appears to be sort of winking because the left window (eye) is open while the right is closed. This is a great photo, well exposed. the only thing that bothers me about it is that the building isn't perfectly level. It seems to be slightly lower on the left.

Great Job! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Norma, this is well composed and has good color. There are a couple things I would change. I would have maybe tried a shallower depth of field to blur the poles in the background a little bit. I would also try shooting at a different time of day to get more light on the water. These are just my personal opinions. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I wasn't sure which category to choose. Hopefully I got it right. This was taken the

same morning as the "Morning Light" photo that I submitted a few days ago. The

    fog was incredible that day.

    All comments are welcome.

    Thanks!

  3. I wasn't sure what category to place this in. I put it here because

you really can't see much detail in the child. I was originally

composing a landscape and my 15 month old son ran into the frame. I

was struck by how tiny he was in comparison to the tree. Kind of put

    things in perspective for me.

Any comments or ratings are appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi-

I like this. I really appreciate non-manipulated, documentary style photography. The subject, color and exposure are very good. I wasn't there so I don't know the situation, but the composition could be improved by shifting it either left or right. There is an object on either side that is cut in half. Perhaps the image would be better if more of one or the other were included. I would like to see more of the sign on the left with the yellow writing. Great photo though.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much for the nice comments. :)

Yes, that is a wild turkey. They are very common around here, but usually I find them in groups. This fellow was alone. They have really pretty plumage when you get up close. One day I'll get some good photos of that.

I just want to mention up front that while many people think at first that this photo is

manipulated, it is not. It is a reflection in the Santa Fe river. I was leaning over the

side of the CCC suspension bridge when I took it. The river level was high and

moving very quickly due to recent heavy rains.

    I would appreciate any comments.

    Thanks!

  4. I'm not sure if I chose the best category for this photo, but none of them seemed to fit. If

anyone has a better suggestion, I'm open to it.

There were lots of these in this cemetery. It both made me sad and also happy that someone

cared enough to place another marker before the wood completely rotted away.

    All comments are welcome.
