The colors are lovely. I like that the sun's reflection doesn't cross the boats in this shot. Well composed. This looks like such a beautiful place. I thought the extreme reflection was a bit much at first, but when I look at it a little longer I find it looks like a path to a new world. Just follow the light. :)

Hi Susmit-
I would agree that the reflection of the sun is a little overwhelming and distracts from the overall image. Otherwise it is a really beautiful photo. I really like the subtle color.

Hi Christian-
I like this. It does look like an army of dinos all lined up. Great composition.

Hi Marina-
I have to say that I am not a huge fan of extensive post processing, but this is really beautiful. I love the colors and the softness. Well done.

I caught this moth on a small forest trail off the highway in Crystal
River. I only got one shot and then it was gone. Any comments or
ratings are appreciated. Thanks!

This photo is so hard for me to view. It is so emotional and touching in a most basic way. I couldn't comment until now and I will freely admit that this makes me cry. Sure there are a few things about it that might be improved. The vertical line is a little distracting. I personally find that this is one those photos where things like that become unimportant. The raw power of emotion contained here override everything else. This is photography in it's most important aspect IMO. Capturing the bittersweet taste of life and connecting us to our past so we can continue to feel on that deepest level. I saw this and immediately missed my old kitty who went to sleep 5 years ago. He lived with me for 22 of his 23 years. With love comes loss and this photo sums it all up. I personally like the contrast. It adds to the mood.

This is my first edit in Lightroom. It took me a while to adjust to
the different controls. Any comments on how I could improve, either
shooting or post processing, are greatly appreciated. I used my D200
with a Tamron 200-500mm lens on a tripod and shot RAW.
Thanks!

Hi Jenny-
I love the colors in this photo. The grey, green and purple really compliment each other and the water droplets are a nice touch. I wish the DOF had extended more at the bottom right, just a personal opinon. Really nice work!

I loved this tree. I have photographed it from every angle, in color
and B&W. This is my favorite shot. I am glad I finally got it
because when I went out on the same trail a couple months later it had
collapsed. As all things rise from the earth so shall it take them
again. Any critiques are appreciated. I am always looking to improve.

I like the overall feel of this photo. I wasn't sure about the blue cast at first, but it grew on me. I think that the blue cast contributes to the overall mood of the photo. I did also like the corrected colors that Michael Chang presented. I suppose that the original intent would dictate the choice. The stuff in the mirror I don't mind. I see a towel or robe hanging on the wall, a partially finished drink and what appears to be the doorway. I kind of like that. It adds secondary interest to the image after absorbing the main scene. It makes me wonder what is beyond the door. I would have maybe liked the towel or robe to be a lttle smaller, less intrusive. I don't like how the sink is cropped off on the right side. I would prefer to see less of the towel rack and the whole of the sink. Just my opinion. Well done as a whole. Good work!

Hi Norma!
I like this attempt much better. I think the angle is better. The bench coming out of the side of the frame in the previous photo was a little distracting. I do find the tent in the very back in this version annoying, but sometimes you just have to work with what you have. Its not always possible to pick stuff up and move it. :) Perhaps a different angle still? I can tell that you tried the shallower DOF to minimize it, but I'm not sure if it was enough. I grabbed it and made a darker version that I think calls less attention to the details in the tent and makes it more part of the darker background. That also had the effect of adding more depth to the middle elements like the rock and the wall with flowers. That part was slightly bright. A darker feel is okay given the nature of the weather. What a stormy looking day! Nice wind! I like the movement of the tree branches and how they are slightly blurred. I really think you are on the right track. Sometimes you have to go back multiple times to really capture what you were originally after. There is a photo in my PN gallery of an old dead tree in B&W. I photographed that tree from every angle in all weather in both color and B&W before I got that shot. It was about 5 months from the time I first started trying up until I took that photo and that was the best shot I ever took of it. It pays to be persistent. I'm glad I was because the tree is gone now. It finally succumbed to the ravages of time and collapsed this past fall. Keep going, I think your photography is really improving. Shoot what you love and keep trying to learn. Follow the light and shoot whatever is in it. That's what I try to do.
Where was this photo taken BTW?

Hi Jan-
I really like this kind of stuff. I think it is very well exposed. This type of subject can be difficult to shoot but you have done a good job. There is lots of detail and the highlights are well preserved. I do think it might be slightly soft in the upper left corner, but not too much.

At first glance, the color drew me to look at this photo. Then, after looking at it for a minute, I didn't care for the colors anymore. For some reason, the way the colors are blending in the wave crest at the top left of the photo is unattractive to me. I do like the composition and the blur on the water. The way the PP is making the blurred movement of the water have crisp edges is interesting. On a personal level, I can't decide if I like that aspect or not. On a technical level, I think that it is well done and the treatment makes a more interesting image of what could be a boring, overdone subject. I would be interested in some details about how it was done. I'm nosey like that. :) Overall it is a well executed photo.

I like the openess of the original photo. I think that cropping in creates a different feel that is not as attractive. The movement and flow of the subject need the space in my opinion. The colors are wonderful and I like the pose of the model. I can imagine that is difficult to capture underwater. There is only one thing about this photo that bothers me a little. Some of the lines created by the fabric seem stiff to me. the overall feel is like an oil painting. Given the liquid nature of the subject, I might have preferred those details to be a little softer. That is just my personal opinion though. I think as a whole this is very well done.

I saw this image a while back in the daily sampling and it caught my eye then. I like many things about it. The colors are clean and crisp. It has an amazing spaciousness that I love. The perspective is powerful and it is definitely a surreal landscape. I find that the shadows of the man and the leaning tree being a different angle from the shadows of the other trees bothers me a little bit, but not enough to change my opinon of the image. I don't personally like the ballon, but I did see an explanation of why it was included and it makes sense to me now.
I don't feel that I can really comment more on the PP because I am not very experienced in that sort of work. I do want to say that the feeling that I get from this image is that it is representative of a dream, a fragment of Ceslovas' mind if you will. That creates a sense of connection in a way and I have great resepct for him in sharing his work with us. When we take up our cameras and create images, regardless of the methods we choose, we leave a part of us in those images. They are very personal in many ways and to share them with the world requires a certain courage. I like this image not for it's technical details or how it was made, but for the feelings and the thoughts that it evokes.

I like this photo, but it didn't grab my attention immediately. I love the tone and the childrens' expressions. They seem a little over PP to me though, in the highlight areas. The out of focus board on the left is a little distracting, but sometimes things like that can't be helped. The composition is ordinary, but that is fitting because it allows the children to really be the main focus. Overall I think it is well done. Thanks!

I must say that I do not consider myself very good at this kind of
photography, but I really liked this one. I had to shoot it fast,
because my son moves at light speed. Any comments on how it could
have been done better or PP advice are appreciated. It looks better
on the large view.
Thanks!

I have to confess that I didn't notice the distortion in the corners at first. I just reacted to my first impression of the photo. I would agree that it could be distracting. Certainly in serious interior architectural photography one would want to probably minimize that type of distortion, if not avoid it entirely. That being said, I don't necessarily dislike it. I think it might depend on the original intent of the photo in the first place. If you were looking at this in an architectural type magazine, then the distortion would be undesirable. If the intent was to create a more surreal type scene, then it could contribute to the overall feel of the photo.
Upon closer inspection, I do think the screen in the back competes with the desk just a little bit. The varied lighting bothered me at first, but I don't mind it now. I also like how the arches are all just slightly different from each other.

I think this is a really beautiful photo. I love the light, other worldly feel and the softness of the arches.
The exposure is fantastic. The
only thing I can see that I don't care for is that the top of the closest arch has been cut off. However, I'm
not sure if that could have been
avoided. Indoors can be a challenge. You did a great job on this!

Another beautiful, natural image. I really like the light through the mist and the different shades of gold ranging from greenish to reddish. Good exposure. I would like to maybe see a slightly darker version as well. Not manipulation, but just a levels adjustment. Could be interesting. The mood might dramatically change that way, but I love it this way too. It's very light and mystical. Thanks for sharing with us!

I was stuck for a better title. If anyone has a suggestion I would be
glad to hear it. This was taken at the Alachua Sink in Paynes
Prairie which is one of my favorite locations locally. Any critiques
or ratings are appreciated. Thanks!
