Ambient or off camera light is a must for a shot like this. Direct on camera flash is not capable of creating light that is attractive in this situation. It creates harsh shadow that eliminate the romance of the shot. I'll bet you could shoot this without any flash at all for a better environmental look.

Nice inventive pose. The interaction between them is also a great quality. My critique would be on the lighting. The light in open shade like this is very flat and dull. The exposure should be brighter, but using an umbrella or some kind of a reflector to add directional lighting to the subject would make this shot much more flattering and attractive. Google Strobist to see primers on techniques that would be useful. As it is, I would definitely white balance for the dress and crank up the exposure until those sun spots glow a bit. This is a nice casual portrait, it just needs a little technical grooming. Keep at it:-)

Great light. I also really like the shadow on the floor and how they connect visually with the couple. I cant figure out why the image is so soft in the lower left and upper right corners. I like the look, but is it done in photoshop? I have seen the same softness in some of your portraits lately.

What is exceptional about this is that it is a candid expression composed beautifully within the environment. It is one thing to compose an environment and another to catch the expression. To do both at the same time is very impressive. I would crop this so that the sofa creates a horizon that goes all the way across the frame. I think the simple geometry is very nice.
