2.
Just back from travelling. I am looking for scratch protection of the 2 screens on my D810 not a protection that the GGS glass is making. Years ago I considered an armor protection for my D700, however, I changed my mind, as if you are so scared, you better stay home at play chess -:) I like the Zagg film which is very clear and still fit very well to my D700/300 and it is impossible to scratch it. The sticky film for phones/Ipads get lose after a while, and yes they are relatively cheap to change.
I admit I do not like the clip on plastic protector, as it is not clear and get easy scratched, and furthermore in windy conditions you get dirt in between the protector and the LCD screen.

 3.
I may be able to find another brand, however, the Zagg Invisible is extremely good (very hard and clear) and I have used it on my D300 and D700.
It seems however, that I have to find another brand or ask a friend outside Vietnam to buy for me !!

 4.
I am looking for an online shop selling the above, and who ships to Vietnam. I want shields both for
the top/back screen.
Zagg.com is not accessible from Vietnam for whatever reason -:(
Somebody here who can advise me?

 5.
This thread seems to be expensive for me -:) I am relatively new in this city and have never bought any photo equipment here, so this afternoon I saw a small shop selling Nikon and went in to ask for the price of a D810. They guy has never ever had a camera of that type in his shop, so he looked at his computer and came up with a good price. I must have look a little dissatisfied, as he immediately said he would accept a price of USD 25 less than what I could get it for in Saigon, so I have an offer now of USD 2,515 with 1 year warranty. I am afraid my christmas starts tomorrow. My only problem is, that it will be the first camera, which I have not touched before buying, however, I think it is like many other things, you get used to it, and I read the difference from D700 is not that big.
Any one who has already sold a D810 please tell me why - as I do not find negative things about it, not even the introduction price.

 6.
I fully agree with Shun that this could easily be a scam.
However, I do not know if Nikon has reduced their prices recently, as I do not follow it that closely pt, but the Nikon D810 can be purchased over the counter in one of the best shops in Ho Chi Minh City for
USD 2,974 ex importer - 12 months warranty
USD 2,528 parallel import - 6 months warranty
based on the unofficial rate of exchange this morning!

 7.
Sorry long time since I have been here. I have not had the opportunity to come around, so here is a photo from my latest trip to Myanmar:

 8.
The status for me is:
Minolta SR7 1961 - donated it to "Street Childrens Photoclub Saigon" in 1994
Minolta ST 101 1966 - donated it together with 4 lenses to "Street Childrens Photoclub Saigon" in 1994
Voightlaender Vitamatic 1963 - still on my shelf
Nikon D90x 1999 - still on my shelf
Canon G2 - damaged/thrown away
Nikon D200 2007 - sold when D300 was release
Nikon D300 2007 - still in use
Nikon D700 2008 - still in use
Unfortunately, there is no b/w film available here in Vietnam, as I would like to "play" with the analog cameras again, and buying them online is extremely expensive, and nobody can develop them here!
No I awaiting a D750 or D810 with GPS build-in then I will probably buy but without selling the D300, if the budget allows!

 9.
quote "Chip, businesses exist to satisfy customer's wants and needs." unquote
In a few case may be, however, I would still claim, that a considerable number of companies
have created the demands from the public. One f.inst. is the computer game industry, which I am not in favour of - did all the kids in the kindergarden or their parents ask for this , I doubt, and now one see in many families both the kids and parents fully occupied by gaming etc during dinner time! It even happens in families without kids -:(

 10.

Replace the left-side (rubber) grip, which is starting to peel off near the Focus Selector Switch.

I have the same problem (right-side), however, Nikon advise me, that they only replace all the rubber grip, which became far too expensive imo. I live now with a little loose rubber grip now.

 11.
Did not see any of your photos from your Vietnam tour !!

 12.
I have set AF-ON to focus and nothing on the shutter release button. For moving subjects focus mode is AF-C and I keep the AF-ON button press also when pushing the shutter release button.
I have not had any problem with this method.
I more or less always use this setting except for landscape photography.

 13.
You say the camera takes pictures was that with the 70-200mm or another lens. Did you try other lenses on the D700, just to find out if it is the camera or the lens, which fails?

 14.
I am in agreement with Shun and it is very seldom I hear negative things about the SanDisk products, however, even the best fails sometime.
I am using Zagg invisible protection film for both by D300/700 since 2009 and am very happy with that decision. They are tailor made to each camera model - a little expensive, but very good.

 15.
Playback Menu/Display mode where you decide what to display during viewing.

 16.
Jim - I am not in doubt that your proposal will be functioning, however, it looks a little bulky to me, as I mainly use it on the streets not so much landscape.
I think I will go for the Phottix

 17.
Mike - I am using the Solmera Pro, which they do not sell any longer. When it is functioning it is really great, but every now and then it stop functioning itself or the cable cause the stoppage of using the LCD screen completely both review and menu.
I had it 4 days after arriving in Myanmar for a 16 days photo tour, Thailand early in a month tour and now last week -:(
On paper I like Solmera Pro 2 however USD 300 investment for something you doubt will function over the next many years is not me.

 18.
Thanks for you comments. Joe I have no technical knowledge of the GPS and chipsets, and I have also seen the Solmera Geotagger Pro 2, which has what I want, but my experience with their after-sales service department is ...... whereas pre-sales is better than excellent -:)
The geotagging via the mobilephone is a no go here in Vietnam, as there are still many places, where the coverage is very bad unless you have a subscription with the supplier owned by the Army, which I do not have or want. I will have a look at Phottix and Micnova.
Regarding the name of the location then I may have misunderstood this function, as I have just noticed, that when uploading photos to Flickr then position and name of location (same time a little different from want we call it) are mentioned, but that may be taken from the google map

 19.
I have read the treads covering GPS (relatively old) and have not found any recommendations to what I would like.
I am interested in a GPS unit to be fixed to the camera or connected otherwise f.inst. Bluetooth/adaptor and the GPS should have:

position

name of location

altitude

direction - electronic compass

Battery - preferable not built in (not camera battery)

At the same time it should be very easy to connect to the camera, as I normally of cables fixed to the my D700 and another to the D300 and the just move the GPS unit.
Anyone who has a recommendable GPS with the above specification? Unfortunately I have only heard/read negative reviews of the Nikon GP-1 and my Solmeta fail constantly after a little more than 1 years use, unless somebody can recommend the latest Solmeta Geotagger Pro 2 - quality of battery and cable!

 20.
I use SanDisk ExtremeIII 60MB/s 16GB on D700 and I have never had any problems. However, I have seen fake SanDisk CF cards in Asia, how common it is, I do not know, however.

 21.
I have been using the above for several years together with my Nikon D300/700.
I have just been on holiday and transfer photos from CF card - copy paste - to a small laptop and external HDD. I then use the above software to transfer the photos from the HDD to my "photo computer", however, now all of a sudden, the software will not recognize the HDD. I have tried to copy all photos to the internal HD and try the software from there, but with same result.
What can I do now? I prefer to change the description/numbering of the photos prior to importing them to LR5.

 22.
This coolIris wall is shown in the foreground and cover the first 1.5 page! Not seen previously. Is it my fault or .....
Adm. please delete my empty entries (I have obviously been absent too long -:))
