1.
Hi Don, try uploading based on the following:
- skip the text layer for such small photos a watermark or copyright isn't really needed (little risk of commercial reproduction)
- resize to 700 X 464
- make sure you have maximum quality as the default if your program allows that (iPhoto does)

 5.
Don, those look like great shots but the uploads are showing a lot of rough pixels. How are you scaling them to upload?
Here are a few thoughts on last week's posts:
Bob - love the "Mean Max" beer shot. You know it's street photography when you can almost taste the beer from a photo.
Nick- "Bee Haven - has a lot of detail and is an excellent shot.
Yvon - Amazing perspective and shadow/highlight detail with "San Diego Bay from Point Loma".
Matt - Magic hour brings out exceptional tones and colour rendering in the "Car Show" photo.
Dorus - Great capture with "Junk Food Heron".
Howard - I like the reflections in sunglasses and look forward to trying to capture the same. Thanks for the terrific idea.
Here are a few from this week and one from last week. I'll start with another photo of my daughter who as a teen is now not minding being photographed after a few years of dodging the camera.

 8.
Great shots by all last week. My 3 fav's from last week were: Dorus's - Train Station, Matt's - Campfire, Harry's - Water Weed. Great kick off by Doug this week. The Central Tasmanian Lake is stunning. Here are 3 from me. Three very different images...

 9.
And a third…also shot with the HD DA 40…90% of the shots I took were with the 40. Terrific lens for capturing candid moments.

 11.
Here are a few shots to kick off this week. These are from our annual family picnic. Small turn out this year; only 60 of us. Some years over 100 are able to attend. It's hard to get everyone here as travelling to this remote island can be costly and air is the only practical way to get here.

 12.
Howard, the amount of Pentax gear you have doesn't define you as a Pentaxian, the fact that you choose to capture images with a Pentax camera does. Photography is about capturing light, creating art and preserving moments. I have shot on and off with Pentax since the 1980's. Almost 8 years ago I upgraded from an Optio S40 to a K100 D Super. I only had 4 Pentax lenses, an AF360FGZ and a Sigma. 1n 2009 Pentax lens prices skyrocketed and I didn't buy any new Pentax gear until this year.

Before re-investing in Pentax this year; I sold my K100D Super, DA 18-55, FA 50, FA 35, Sigma Bigma and had planned on selling my DA 50-200 & AF360FGZ. I was looking at the Nikon system and seriously planned on switching. Why? Because Pentax has virtually no market presence in the Canadian market and it's easier to buy a camera system you can pick up and shoot with versus a system you can only find on the internet and have to rely on the reviews of others to make a choice.

Then one local camera store started stocking a few Pentax bodies. I was able to try a K-50 and K-3. After years of shooting with the FA 35 and FA 50 (both of which were too long for my taste on a crop sensor - I loved 35 on film bodies) I ordered a K-5II, HD DA 21 and HD DA 40. It wasn't an easy choice as special orders are final sale - no returns. Fortunately the lenses are stellar and I'll order the HD DA 70 in the near future - then I'll probably get rid of the 50-200. Moving forward I only plan on shooting with a small kit of 3-4 primes, a Pentax body and a Pentax flash. I still consider myself a Pentaxian and you should too. Cheers.

 13.
Terrific images from all. Keep 'em coming! Matt - the lightning strike is amazing. Nick - all that work in post on the Sunflower really paid off. Dorus - great to see your photos here again - that fisheye shot is neat - Pentax 10-17?

 19.
Great Shots Doug. It's very interesting to view photos of creatures I have never seen before in their native habitat. That's one of the best parts of POTW - seeing other parts of the world through the eyes of others. Here are a few shots from this week...

 20.
Hi Doug,

I just looked at your Photo.net bio. Wow. If you do travel to Newfoundland, you might find the Rangeomorph Ediacaran fossils at Mistaken Point interesting and accessible to photograph. http://www.canada.com/technology/Newfoundland+fossil+discovery+unearths+ancient+animal+remains/6884011/story.html?__federated=1 Also, drop me a line when here. I'd volunteer to be a tour guide for a day. Cheers.

 21.
Hi Andrew, here's a lower tech, easier fix worth considering: connect the camera to a HD TV with an HDMI cable. You can playback directly from the camera. This is ideal if the camera is positioned on a tripod - but not if you want to work the room with it.
The challenge with Eye-fi and similar wireless applications at present is download speed is an average 6-7 seconds for a k-5II, a K-3 with larger files may be slower. You also lose some IQ with Eye-fi. I had an Eye-fi card for my K-5II so I could transfer images to an iPad when travelling. I abandoned the Eye-fi card in favour of an Apple Lightning SD Card Reader. Faster Transfers, better IQ and not as cumbersome as a wireless configuration.

 22.
This has been a terrific POTW thread - perhaps one of the best in quite a while. Let's all try to keep it going. Matt - terrific shots and colours. That DA 15 looks to be a sweet performer. Haig - having grown up in the shadow of the Long Range Mountains - your #3 and #4 shots make me miss home. Doug - thanks, Ottawa is a great city and I can appreciate your enjoying the trails there - you should visit Newfoundland and try the East Coast Trail - 265 km of world class rugged trails with breathtaking views of the most eastern coastline in North America www.eastcoasttrail.ca. Then there's Gros Morne on the west coast - don't travel to either without your Pentax gear as you'll capture images that you'll enjoy for a lifetime.
