4.
If you haven't yet tried a DA Limited, I strongly recommend it. Carrying 3 HD DA Limited pancakes in a small camera bag not only provides a compact kit; the IQ and colour rendering by these diminutive powerhouses is stunning. Once you shoot with a Limited every other lens just doesn't seem as magical.

I recently started shooting junior football with the HD DA 70 and K-5 II and have found this combination terrific for sports. The screw-drive AF is very fast with this compact prime. The trick to using this combination (K-5 II and DA 70) for sports is; 1) enable the AF button, 2) disable AF for shutter release half-press, 3) set the AF selector to continuous. Here are a few photos. Who says Pentax isn't great for sports photography?

 7.
Nice kick off Howard, as always you manage to capture a lovely shot of a pretty lady! New Brunswick is beautiful Doug, great shots, you should visit the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia next year - it is the most amazing part of Atlantic Canada.

Here are a couple of quick shots from last week….

 10.
Hi Folks, who cares what Kenikon Canonwell thinks. "The best camera is the one you have with you" - Chase Jarvis. Just take your Pentax gear and go out and shoot! For those who suffer from the misperception that you can't shoot sports with Pentax my humble K-5II and HD DA 70 beg to differ!

 13.
Terrific shots by all. Harry - I'm envious of that 31 Ltd. It is perhaps the best lens a Pentaxian could have in their toolbox. Howard - excellent detail and colour in the floral captures. Yuri - great shots from the sidelines. Here are three from this past week:

 16.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Sometimes life can get in the way of our hobbies. Good to see a few Pentaxians who act as "the glue" holding the POTW thread together and keeping it going. Here are 3 shots from yesterday. My son was sparring with one of his boxing buddies.

 17.
Hi Uday, while Bill has run a very clinical test with a tripod mounted camera and two statues this will differ from hand held shooting with human subjects that may not be as cooperative. As John pointed out, manual focus with a DSLR can be very frustrating unless you are prepared to do day surgery on your camera and replace the focusing screen. Many of us here cut our teeth on a K1000 or similar camera with manual focus lenses. Most would not sacrifice the benefit of reliable AF. With shallow depth of field - accurate AF is huge…food for thought….

 18. Hi Uday, I have had an SMC A 50 f/2 and an FA 50 f/1.4 and have enjoyed capturing great images with both. The FA is always soft at 1.4 and was seldom used wider open than f/2. Today I shoot most portraits with the DA 70 preferring the longer reach. That lens wide open is f2.4. Looking at the options you've listed; the DA 50 f/1.8 is in the middle of the price range and it is a dynamite lens for a very modest cost. I tried one out at my local camera store last fall and was pleasantly surprised with the results it produced on a K-5 II. Pentax Forums has a useful database of lens reviews from Pentax shooters. You should check it out. The DA 50 f/1.8 gets a 9.28 rating out of 10 by those who have reviewed it there. Cheers, Duane

 20.
Hi folks the POTW is late starting this week. I haven't had much time to shoot so here are two images. The first was shot a couple of months ago and is actually a panorama consisting of 7 photos that were assembled in Photoshop...
