  1. Oh no, what a bummer. πŸ˜” Sorry to hear. But some of these smart phone cameras are pretty good, not your Canon, but better than nothing.
  2. We were there last year. Great shots. Looking at the shadows in some shots, I am guessing morning shots? I missed the sunrise myself. Was to exhausted from drive down from Utah, setting up the RV Camp and running around the day before, so I slept in.
  3. Happy Thursday, Thursday November 2, 2023, to all Canon Shooters and Photography enthusiasts. Once again it is time for this week's Canon Photo Thursday. November is here and all the Autum colors and festivities and maybe snow for some, just waiting to be photographed. This is your chance to share your epic, fun, cool, and/or interesting photo with everyone here on PN. Show us your vision, your style, your projects, your travels, adventures, photo missions or just something you shot that captured your fancy. You all know the drill, post one, two, three, or more photos shot from your Canon EOS Camera (SLR or DSLR or Mirrorless. Was your camera made by Canon? If so, post your shots). Beale Street, Memphis. 4. The lens will probably give you years of service. I think Amazon should disclose or require third party sellers to disclose if Merchandise is gray market. The whole idea of gray market stinks. The manufacturer should stand behind their products regardless, and if the issue is Canon USA or NIKON USA footing the bill, they should get reimbursed from the Parent company. This is the age of jet travel. Sigh. Tamron had me jumping through hoops over a warranty firmware update on a lens that had been introduced the prior year. They insisted I had to show a receipt to prove when and where I bought it. The lens came with a 6 year warranty. It had only been on the market for a year. Seemed to me they were just looking for a way not to honor the free repair. That is the last Tamron product I ever bought. At least Sigma has a USB puck you can do your own firmware updates.
  5. Waiting for the Great Pumpkin in a sincere pumpkin patch. πŸ™‚Nice composition.
  6. I have had success with the App on my Android Phone and a couple Android Tablets. There were also a couple times getting it set up was frustrating.

  10. No we can post bigger. I've been limiting mine to 1600 to 2000. I belive the new site will compress it a bit and if the upload is too large it will not allow it.

Nothing great for me this week, we are on the road. My laptop doesn't have all the drives hooked up, I tried firing up Lightroom, but apparently the directory is on Drive F which isn't hooked up at the moment. So the second image was edited with DPP4, basic crop only. I am 400 plus miles South East of last weeks location. We had our last supper at Vivolas Chowder House in Monterey (Pacific Grove) two days ago. I just finished 6 hours of driving the RV and am in Desert Hot Springs near Joshua Tree. The first shot is from Vivolas, taken earlier. Forgot my camera when we went two days ago. The second shot was from today. Just a quick snap out the window of Windmills off I-10 heading into Palm Springs/Palm Desert area. It's going to be a month of photo missions on the road across the USA and will take me a month of processing, lol. Canon 5D MK IV -

  14. Do you know where Bottles 'N' Bins Liquors is on Lighthouse Ave & David Ave is. I shot this from their parking lot. It is next door. Interesting Google Street View does not have the signs. But the house shows up with the palm tree, so Google must have shot it before they decorated. Looking close on Google the property was up for lease.
  15. Happy Thursday, September 14, 2023, to all Canon Shooters and Photography enthusiasts. 16. I know it was up for sale, we have been house hunting out here. Had to pass on that one. Just a little pricey for me. Lol.
  17. I was gifted an old circa 1965 Canon camera from an old friend that just passed a couple months ago. I really need to get some film and do some film shooting. It has been over two decades since I shot with film. I think the whole experience will be, I really am not wasting a frame unless I find something really cool to shoot. lol. My kids got me an instamatic a couple years ago. Only used it to take photos of family. lol. Not like digital where you can blast off a hundred shots and cherry pick. I think film takes a lot more thought, at least for me.
  18. I gave up on my decade plus old Sony 47" flat screen last summer. The color had gone crazy, sure probably could have tried opening it up, checking cables. I worked at a TV repair shop 41 years ago when TV's were still cathode ray tubes and weighed a back breaking lot, I have a degree in electronics, was a bench technician in a time long ago and even still HAM radio guy. But no, I was not going to pull this apart on the kitchen table, I have to many things to do, this was a chance for me to upgrade to a new 57" (I think) Samsung QLED or OLED, I forget, haven't seen it in a year. lol. I will see it when I get back home from the RV adventure. That looks amazing clean. Those LEDs look like jewels. Good luck with this project.

  20. PhotoNet Pro 7.1k Posted August 24 Happy Thursday, August 31, 2023, to all Canon Shooters and Photography enthusiasts. Once again it is time for this week's Canon Photo Thursday. 😁 Summer is almost gone here. Hope everyone is enjoying it. You folks know the guidelines. Post 1,2,3 or so photos somewhere around 1200-2000 pixels wide, don't let the website upload bark at you. Canon 5D MK IV
  21. Keep shutter speed under 1/200 sec manual flash, or use a reflector instead of flash. To go over 1/200 sec you need high speed sync flash and camera that supports it. I have done bright daylight shooting at wide shutter (low f-stop) and manual flash using a good quality ND (neutral density) filter. So there are work around. But ND filters can slightly alter your color.
  22. yes the sync on a manual flash, keep shutter speed under 1/200 sec
  23. When I first purchased the 6D and I still had my 7D, the 6D while an excellent full frame camera seemed like a real step down from the features of the 7D, less focal points, lack of buttons and you had to go into the menu to do things the 7D had buttons for. Don't get me wrong, the 6D had better low light and noise, just lacked features like PC port to trigger studio flash. The 7D was like the pro crop sensor camera. No regrets going to the 5D MKIV

Pick up the camera and shoot something. Even if you didn't get out this week, you know you have some blast from the past stashed in your archives. We have a lot of regulars here reading. Jump in and post. Show us your shots. I know with the season everyone can get very busy. Even me. If for some reason, I miss starting the Thursday Canon thread, please pick up the ball and start it. I am doing my best but sometimes I lose track of the days and a week goes by so fast. So don't feel you have to wait. This is about the Canon Photo thread, not me, my ego won't be bruised, and I will be delighted. Thanks, Adrian, for starting last week's thread. You're a rock star buddy. Thank you, everyone who has been participating. Let's go Team Canon! πŸ˜ƒ For my shots, nothing fancy. One shot on the drive heading to Laguna Seca and another by Hitchcock Rd.
