  1. Interesting, I am using a color calibrated monitor, the image saved out of lightroom and uploaded to PN is not over saturated, but the image I see on PN is oversaturated so something happened in the compression here. So I went into LR, turned vibrance way down and I will upload these to compare. I wonder if the black background is making the website algorithm turn up the image? And chnged to Adobe RGB

  5. That sounds like the standard fee, I paid that to have a 40D that took a tumble repaired a decade ago. They should also clean the camera and sensor, they did for me. I have a 5D MK IV and my dial is getting a little stiff, I used a rocket blower to blow out any dirt that may have gotten into the dial. Helped a bit, but mine will probably need a dial replacement one day to. There are some YouTube videos on someone replacing a dial. I used to be an electronics bench technician and I wouldn't want to do this myself. I am not impressed with the build quality of some of the rubber push buttons on my 5D MK IV, and when I had the 6D I didn't think the rocker dial on the back was well built, shouldn't be much more to have that replaced while there, think it is just another wear out item. Wish they had a better build quality, especially for cameras with price tags over $2000 and $3000.
  6. It is Yosemite, but I am hesitant to say it is Half Dome and not possibly another peak.
  7. Happy Thursday, November 30, 2023, to all Canon Shooters and Photography enthusiasts. Once again it is time for this week's Canon Photo Thursday. And today is wrapping up November. 8. Good luck. Sounds awful. Keep us posted as to the resolution. 😵
  9. I saw the Canon R5 body for $2999 and other Canon Black Friday deals. If I had $3150 disposable cash laying around it would sure be tempting. But I don't and perhaps getting to old to start over with a new mount system and cards...of course there is the adapter for EF lenses. Who knows what the future holds for me. So did anyone buy any new Canon gear or plan to? Cyber Monday is tomorrow. 😉
  10. Thanks. It is a great photo mission vehicle. We have traveled to a lot of the country coast to coast in that rig and it has taken us to some great photo destination and allowed us extended stays around the country. There are pros and cons, good roads and bad, great destination and rough areas to navigate, sometimes needed repairs to the RV out on the road. All part of the adventure. We are back home and the RV has been winterized and is current in the shop getting a tune up and it passed Pennsylvania Inspection. I still have a few other repairs and roof maintenance to do. It's a small house on wheels constantly getting rattled on the road. Fortunately it is a well built machine and I am always working on it.
  11. Happy Thursday, November 23, 2023, to all Canon Shooters and Photography enthusiasts. Once again it is time for this week's Canon Photo Thursday. November is winding down to the last week. Some of us are celebrating Thanksgiving and some will see snow, others might be seeing sunshine and palm trees and flowers. It's all just waiting to be photographed.Happy shooting wherever you are. Here are some shots of our camp along the Mississippi and one shot from Joshua Tree last month. I am slowly getting to look through these shots driving back across the country and share a few here. 13. Better ISO will probably be a selling point for a future generation of camera to lure consumers to to part with their money. That and higher resolution. Global shutter is cool and will have it's uses like any other tool. I am curious what the impact of base ISO 250 will be. With shutter speed up to 1/80,000th I would imagine you could still use a fast lense wide open in bright sun. For me personally, I can't say the rubber band effect has ruined a lot of shots, but I am not a big golf or baseball photographer. Grain free images are more important for me. With the cameras of the last 5 years or so, even ISO of 3200 isn't bad. And with the new AI noise reduction software in post I have been able to get nice images at much higher ISO. As far as Canon not having global shutter, that feature wouldn't be a high priority as compared to other features. I know this is Canon Rumors, but if they are correct, Canon won't have the feature on the next generation cameras. It isn't a deal breaker for me. Here is a Link.
  14. Sam, there might be a connection. We better be careful evoking his name three times, Like Beetlejuice. He might buy it and everyone will need a blue checkmark to POST.
  15. I had to look this one up, I have not been in the market for a new camera for a while and have not been keeping. I viewed this LINK. Wow, I often thought why didn't cameras have this. It would be cool, especially if photographing from a moving vehicle. (as a passenger of course) The rubber band effect is a draw back. I would think Canon will have to introduce it.
  16. I am really glad it is back. I thought it was gone for good this time.

  18. I have not able to login in with my Android Tablet or Phone and not been able to login with my Windows 11 computer because of this certificate error. The clicking on advanced would not show the proceed anyway (unsafe) option is not showing up. Obviously something has changed in a security update. After two days, I have a solution. Please see attached instructions.
  19. And won't the Tesla owners be bummed when they have to charge there cars with a USB C charger. It's a joke folks. Throw tomatoes if you want. 🍅 sigh....I feel old, like the time I was at the burger stand and the cashier called "number 8 6 7" and a I yelled "5 3 2 9" and no one laughed. I left and ate my cheeseburger in my car.
  20. Perhaps I misinterpreted that manufacturers could sell existing inventory but after 2024 no new inventory would be allowed to be sold. And existing cameras would not be grandfathered in. So the batteries for those cameras would also not be grandfathered since they are not USB C compliant.
  21. Sure glad I am not in the EU, but I hear California may pass a similar law. Ok, great for cell phones, but not great if I can't get batteries to charge a DSLR that cost of $3400 cause some politician can't think the problem through. Sigh, what am I talking about. The USB C required charger port on all electronic devices. Here is the Link.
  22. Your pet centipede? 😀 Have you named him yet, Adrian? 😉 I know they eat bug larva and spiders, so probably keeps the house free of other critters. Guess when the bugs are gone you can feed him Purina Centipede Chow. I hear they can live up to 7 years. About as long as a large dog or horse. Sorry, having too much fun kidding around. 🙈
