Saw this path and then an elderly couple came by enjoying a nice
afternoon stroll. They were very comfortable just walking in the quiet
... taking it in. I thought it made for a nice image.

I love the tree archway along this path. What do you think?

A beautiful hike along the manassas battlefield produced this image.
I wish the path shadows could have been avoided but the light was
high and unavoidable. I still enjoy the result. What about you?

agree. this is a lovely image; and take just in time too. The bud was starting to fall apart, but with most of it there and seeing it start to fall it adds another element of life to the image. well done.

I am not a huge fan of HDR, but every once in a while I find an image
that I think it is well suited for. On a family outing last week we came
across this man playing his glass jars for a small crowd in Old Town.
The setting and the music made for a great atmosphere.

Took my son on a hike today and we had some beautiful weather
come our way. He had the idea for this shot so we went for it. I think
it turned out pretty well. What do you think?

Thank you, Jim!
I always blow right past that on the upload, but I really should. Here goes ...
Camera: Pentax K10D
Lens: 18-250mm zoom set at 18mm
Aperture: F22
ISO: 400
Exposure: 8 seconds
Flash: None -
A neat little cafe in old town manassas. Image taken around
midnight on a very cold January evening so that little foot traffic was
around the holiday lighting was still up for adding light and effect.

Christoph, Thank you for the feedback and willingness to share. I appreciate it very much. Its very helpful in understanding this art that has so many facets to it. I look forward to learning them all ... well, more of them anyway :-)

Larry - thank you for the kind review. The station is still in use. Its the manassas, va train station in old town manassas. It is a lovely station to visit.

Yannis, thank you for taking the time to comment. I was nervous about getting the whole image in focus so I stopped the lens down to f22 to get a large depth of field. Would going with a larger aperture have given the effect you are talking about? This is my first try at a night image like this so any advice is much appreciated. thanks again.

I took this image tonight at a local train station. The absence of
activity and the lighting struck me. I used a tripod and long bulb
exposure that I then post processed and cropped to this view.
Constructive critiques are appreciated. Thank you.

My first user of ND filters. This is a shot of a creek off the battlefield
park. Exposure was 8 seconds with a stacked ND filter. Post
processed with three exposures for HD effect. Comments welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to view.

Wonderful detail in the entire image. I could stare at this for hours wondering the history behind this building. The light coming in the doorway was a nice choice as well. With the detailed in the beams; was this a multiple exposure shot or did you light the ceiling with flash? Thank you for the chance to view this image.

I can only image that the foreground colors would be quite lovely with a little more exposure on them. The entire scene is beautiful, and the sun is nicely muted behind the trees. Did you take multiple exposures on this one?

Hi Stephen. I've never tried focus stacking before, so I will give it a try for a next homework assignment. Th grasses I had intended to be out of focus (on this shot and the one with the fence the fence was intended to be out of focus). I had wanted something in the near field to give the image a sense of depth, but did want to it be the focus so deliberately put them out of focus and set the auto focus to the tree. I did use a tripod, but it was a little windy and may have caused the tree to fall out of focus with the movement. Thank you for the review ... we'll see how the focus stacking goes.

Its a beautiful building and very interesting at night. The leftward tilt of the tower into the sky takes away from the symmetry of the image. controlling that perspective would make this much more powerful.

Looks like a beautiful day there - it must have been fun. With the title of the image, I was expecting more focus on the castle, whereas its far in the background here. My eyes are immediately drawn to the gate. It is an interesting gate, but with the tilt to the right it seems "of". Maybe try straightening the image.

Bernard Christof, and Alf - thank you all for the suggestions. I took another crop of it, and put it up here that goes in the direction of your thoughts for minimizing foreground and foregoing the vignette. I like this version too. Thank you for the critique!

Very thought provoking image. Nicely composed. The bracelet reflection in the window really gives it a nice touch with some detail to draw the eye.
