I love it when a photo tells a story. Specially if it leaves plenty of room to make up my own story. And this one sure does. As soon as I saw this one my mind "wrote" at least 3 in just a few minutes. The stories varied from humorous to sad to pretty "dark". Well done!

Haha, nice and simple. Photography can really be that simple yet effective.

One thing though that distracts me a little is the position of the lamp in the frame. If possible I would have given it just a little more space to the right (of me). But then, that's me.

Keep shooting Donald, I like your style!

    Shadow skater

I like this one a lot, great shadow! I also think there are at least 2 other pictures in this scene. Have you concidered playing with it a bit? Like cropping out all the bystanders and only keep the arms and head of the skater? Just him and his shadow? Or turn it upside down, giving the shadow the mainlead. Maybe do both?

    Just a thought :)

And yes they are.. re hardworkers. And I am very fond of Scheveningen. Especially on a stormy day or late in the evening when everybody else is headed for home.

    Enjoy your weekend!

I like it for the absurdity of that dress displayed in the back. This one was taken on a warm day in Seoul. On Sunday's a lot of streets are closed for motorized traffic, making them a great place for all sorts of entertainment. The dress was part of an open air art exhibit. Originally this was shot in color, but I think it works better in B&W. Like you say.. a lot is going on.. the colors made it a bit too screamy..

And I agree with Asia being a great place to be for a photographer.I consider myself VERY lucky to be able to live here for a while. One of the best parts is that most people actually like having their picture taken here. They even ask for it now and then. However, they want my pic as well. Being a lot taller than the average Korean and a redhead makes me just as exotic to them as they are to me. I think for every picture I take my pic is taken at least twice as many times.

That's ok tho.. small price to pay :)

    Have fun Jasmina!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw them both standing there. Just HAD to make a picture. Had to crop grandma out of the scene tho. She was all over her grandchild and dressed in screaming colours. She spoiled the softness of this composition for me. That's why mom kind of lost her arm in the frame.

Thanks for passing by Jasmina! :)

Hummm, I never looked at it that way... but now you mention it.. you are right, one could interpretate the childs look as "slightly worried". Funny how one photo can trigger different emotions with different people.

Thank's for passing by and taking the time to comment! :)

I agree with Patrick. Interesting angle, great contrast between the play fullness of the grass and the drama of the dark sky with clouds. Well seen, well composed well presented!

I noticed you haven't posted any new photo's since early nov. That's a shame, I would love to see more of your work here. :)

    Kind regards,

    Geertje

  1. No reason to be sorry Koushik, not at all :) In fact I am glad you took the time to visit me and at least I now know to make sure I am always dressed decently here :P (Just kidding off course) Really, it's more than ok. And you are very welcome to follow this picture to the rest of the folder. Just snapshots of me and my partner in Korea. Nothing secretive and not very artistic I am afraid..I am an expat here for the time being. Like I said, I post them for my children who are still in the Netherlands. The descriptions are in Dutch tho...

Thanks again for your visit and enjoy your weekend!

    Regards, Geertje

  2. Thanks Koushik.. but I am surprised you can see this folder at all. This is a private one with a link only to my children. I have more folders like that.. all start with the word "privé" can you see those too? No harm done btw. It's just that these are snapshots with no artistic value.

Thanks, you just made my day! This is actually a re-post. The previous one was in my portfolio for quite a while but it showed a lot of noise and I never was really happy with the tone and the contrast. I've been working on it these past few day's, trying all sorts of way's to improve it. A compliment like that coming from an artist like you means a lot to me. Actually, your B&W work is the inspiration to try improve mine. There is still lots and lots for me to learn. Since I can't do all at the same time, I take it step by step. This month is my "B&W" month. :P

I read as much as I can, check a lot of portfolio's and play with my cam and PS till I get as close as possible to the result I am looking for. And like I said... your portfolio to me is a "must see" on my list.

    Fijne pakjes avond!

Sunny fall day near a trainstation in Korea. Elderly people love to hang out

there and play this chess like game. It was fun watching and photographing

them. They did not mind at all and just went on with their businnes. Just what

    I hoped for...
