Thanks for the comment Stephane, and for your support of the "The Penis Project." Your insights and suggestions are most welcomed! They are exactly what I was hoping for in terms of feedback from this site.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Hansen, thanks for the tip on the lens. That's precisely the kind of stuff I learn from, and I'm definitely here to learn!

That's great. It made me laugh out loud. As for critique, the only thing I might do is make it a little brighter and punch it with a little contrast afterwards. Otherwise, it's perfect! And very funny!

I've never tried a self-portrait before. How did I do? Is it too

light/bright? Comments and critiques as to what could be improved

    here would be greatly appreciated.

FYI -- I do not have a studio or studio lighting. This was taken in

my bedroom by a window and with a 580EX flash unit.

    Thanks for any feedback!

That is a beautiful portrait. I'm continually amazed by the talented photographers on here who make a portrait look like something I haven't seen before. Bravo.

I've not tried something quite like this. Does it work? How would

you improve the aesthetics? I'm looking for some serious critique.

Any and all comments are welcome.

What a gorgeous portrait! The eyes are stunning, her skin appears to made of cream, and the lighting is perfect. I really admire this piece of work!

Is that basket in the foreground catching light?! I like that concept. If I were to suggest improvement, I would say to straighten out that horizontal beam running across the lower third of the picture. I might also try to include more height in the foreground, so that the ceiling angle doesn't get lost. Otherwise, very nice lines and interesting lighting & textures.
  1. Blue is my favorite color so I'm partial to the silhouette against that background. There's something eminently mysterious about this shot. The kid could be having fun... it could also be a torture shot... it could be in space or under water. It's definitely evocative. I, personally, like it a lot. The composition is cool too: the understated perpendicular lines created by the child and the flares against the backdrop of concentric blue circles. Well done, to my eye.

I'm curious to know how this composition and lens choice (10-22mm)

strikes people. Any and ALL comments and critiques are welcome.

Please let me know what you think.

  2. I think the composition is great. I like the green in the foreground and the contours leading out into the distance. The DOF, of course, is equally good because you've captured the sunset and the texture of the sand. I want to dig my hands into it! I also like the fact that it's atypical as far as landscapes go. I'm not looking at a vast horizontal thing. I don't see any flaws to call attention to, but at the same time, I'm not compelled or deeply moved by it.

Does the angle work here? How about the color and slight vignetting?

Any and ALL comments/critiques would be most appreciated.

I'm not going for originality here, but I would like honest critique

on the execution here. Is the DOF all right? Sharpness? Clarity?

Please let me know what you think and/or how you would improve this.

All comments and critiques are welcome.
