This shot is definitely my favorite in this folder...Slightly creepy lighting enhances it in my opinion, gives it just a hint of an edge. Very noir, evokes the 1930s or 1940s.

Beautiful candid shot! The light is stunning. Have you tried cropping the bottom third out to make it more of a panorama? I think it would make it even more surreal.

Beautiful capture, the pose and framing is excellent. I love the drab background against the color of the subject - it shows how alive and vibrant he is - even when crying!

I LOVE the lower half of this photo - it's what makes it interesting. Being able to see above and below the water - and those dramatic whirls of the earth and roots - it's fascinating, and elevates this out of the league of being just a 'pretty' picture. Nicely done.

Beautiful colors and exposure. It does feel a bit cramped - cropped too tightly on the left, especially. Just a little more space on either side would make it perfect!

I love the setting, the light and the little boy. Too bad the other person was sitting there as well, or it would be just about perfect! But it's a great composition.

What a striking image!! I love the quality of light: you have hard sunlight coming in from the left, filtered light coming through the roof, and reflected light on the right! Also, the colors and textures create a fascinating image: all browns and yellows, except for the tiny hint of green in the distance; the geometric roof versus the ruined, stony floor.

Altogether a fantastic image: unique and creative which is unusal. It's easy to get a 'pretty' picture, but not one as interesting as this.

Beautiful scene, and great composition/capture of the boy with the red shirt - it adds a lot of interest and makes this more than just a 'good' photo. I find the contrast to be a little soft, like it could use a Curves adjustment in PS to make those colors and landscape really 'pop' as much as the cyclist does.

Great use of form, capturing the geometry of those rooftops. The tower is a great focal point, too. Might want to lighten the sky just a bit - it looks like it was burned in or a grad filter was used, which works, but maybe just a little lighter?

Good exposure. There's a lot going on in this frame though - focusing in on that tower, or one of the bridges, might have helped give it a clear subject and strengthened the composition. Have you tried cropping it to a vertical format?

I find the blur effect a bit confusing in this case. It leaves me wondering what's going on, since the surroundings are completely blurred - I don't know what the context is. This might be a stronger image if left unaltered.
  1. Beautiful image, I love the dramatic composition, with the little inlet of frozen water. The yellow-gold sunlight (?) on the rock at left seem a bit overexposed or oversaturated for my taste - it competes a bit with the sun. But that is an easy fix in PS. A lovely capture all around, that helps me experience the locale - great job!

30 second exposure. No tripod, so I had to rely on convenient rocks in

the middle of the stream on which to balance the camera! Thanks in

advance for your thoughts and critiques, ratings also welcome!
