1.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP isn't bad. Close to my home too! This is the tallest cliff in Colorado.
<a title="IMGP2348-Edit.jpg" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 2.
Went out early one morning last week. Sunrise was nice but not off the charts like they can be. Still a great morning to be out!
K-1 & 15-30
<a title="IMGP4760-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Fun (but flawed) pic of our kitty Astro. We have this tiny coffee mug so my wife made her a little miniature pancake to complete the scene.
K-1 & FA 77
<a title="IMGP4824" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Took this on a sunset walk with the dog last night. Leaves are all gone ushering in "stick season" here.
K-1 & ff mod DA* 60-250
<a title="IMGP4877-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 3.
I agree Javier, I'm using one of those on my K-1 and it's a great combo and a much better FL on FF than crop. The only complaints I have are it flares easily and not usually in a pleasing way and it's not sealed. I can usually work around those.

 4.
Eric is great. If he can do it go to him first! I didn't realize he could work on those.

 5.
I recently had KEH repair my DA* 60-250 and they did a good job. Previously I used Precision for my K-1 body and found KEH was much nicer to work with and cheaper too.

 6.
Congratulations! I see I posted above I would never get one because it's too big but since then I have bought a 645D which is the same size. I love my D for the right shot but I still try not to carry it very far!
I would have loved a Z but it was out outside my budget. Maybe I'll get one after it's replacement is released! :)

 7.
Yury, I bet a little fill light or shadows slider would really bring out the color on that last shot.
.
I tried to shoot moonrise on Friday but it was pretty cloudy. The clouds made for a great sunset so it's wasn't too bad. I'm loving the 60-260 post modification for FF. Works great!
K-1 & DA* 60-250 (ff mod)
<a title="IMGP4558-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
I went out to catch moonset and sunrise this morning but it was cloudy again. Nice sunrise so there was that. :)
K-1 & 15-30
<a title="IMGP4616-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
My wife got one more paddle in this morning. It will be over for the season any time now!
K-3 & DA* 60-250 (ff mod)
<a title="IMGP4735-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 8.
Oops, already halfway to next week. I'm late as usual...
Michael, your results with the K-1 are looking good! I'm looking forward to seeing more!

We got more snow this week. Pretty soon it will stop melting away between storms.
645D & FA 45-85
<a title="IMGP6233-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
I attended an event in Crested Butte last week that was a traditional iron pour. The metal is melted by burning coke (refined coal) and then poured into various molds made by local artists. Pretty fun to watch!
K-1 & Tamron 28-75/2.8
<a title="IMGP4201" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Lastly, after reading about it a few times I decided to try the 60-250 FF mod on my lens. I just got it back from getting the SDM replaced and did the baffle removal method with a Dremel tool. Results look great!
K-1 & DA* 60-250 (FF mod)
<a title="IMGP4397-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 9.
Nice, sounds like a great kit. Enjoy!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

 10.
Ooh, sorry to hear about your crash but I'm glad to hear the photos were spared.
I hope you also back them up for inevitable drive failure of one of those external drives!

 11.
We just had an amazing weekend and today the leaves are blowing down.
Climbed a peak
K-S2 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP4252-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Chased colors
645D & FA 45-85/4.5
<a title="IMGP6202-Edit-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Chased light (and colors).
K-1 & Tamron 28-75/2.8
<a title="IMGP3991-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 12.
I recently got the 15-30/2.8 and it's great! The downside is filter use but I understand there is a square filter holder that works. I've been enjoying it filterless. It's also pretty big but I can live with that. I also have the Rokinon 14/2.8 if I need a smaller option to travel light.
I'm probably most interested in the Pentax 70-200/2.8 next. I have a Tamron 28-75/2.8 for the middle range already. The Tamron 70-200 is also tempting but I think I'd prefer weather sealing even at that big premium.
Besides those I use the FA 77 on the K-1 quite a bit and it's a great match. I'd love to see an update of that lens with seals, quick shift, and new coatings.

 13.
I worked in Cincinnati last week and got out for photos a couple of times (as well as being the designated photographer for the event we put on). It was a pretty good week but it sure felt good to get back into the mountains.
This is a bridge that goes over to Kentucky that was designed by the same person who designed the Brooklyn Bridge.
K-S2 & FA 77
<a title="IMGP3800-Edit.jpg" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Fall arrived while I was out and winter is trying to sneak up on us too! I shot a trail running race Saturday morning which had some interesting weather.
K-3 & DA* 60-250 (just back from repair at KEH the day before)
<a title="IMGP6602-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
I did a senior portrait session with a friend's daughter yesterday. A smart and beautiful young lady who seemed very comfortable in front of the camera. A real pleasure to work with!
K-1 & FA 77 + Metz 58 AF-2 (off camera, left)
<a title="IMGP3543" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 14.
Well let me know if you come this way and I can show you some interesting stuff to shoot if you like. No shortage of subject matter!

 15.
Caught a nice sunset by the creek one evening last week.
K-1 & 15-30
<a title="IMGP2877-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Played with swirly bokeh. The Helios is just more of what I like about it on FF.
K-1 & Helios 44-2
<a title="IMGP3045-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Went for a scenic and physically difficult ride with friends yesterday. Hard but worth the effort!
K-S2 & 18-135
<a title="IMGP3198-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 16.
Great contributions everyone!
.
I visited my parents last week and took some walks in the woods with the K-1 and 15-30.
<a title="IMGP2430.jpg" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
I processed this panorama that I shot the previous weekend.
K-1 & 15-30 (x6)
<a title="IMGP2293-Pano-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Today I'm going through the hundreds of photos I took yesterday at a local race I shot, the West Elk Bicycle Classic. A 135 Mile road race that includes a long hard dirt climb and many thousands of feet of climbing. Hard for sure but this guy can still pull a wheelie for the camera at about 120 Miles!
K-1 & 15-30
<a title="IMGP2719" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 17.
Nice contributions everyone!

I got my K-1 back from Precision so it's back in action. I also purchased the 15-30/2.8 to fill out the wide end of my FF lenses. That's a big fat lens! It seems to render very nicely and that's most important to me. I stopped by our local National Park yesterday en route to the airport and had my first planned landscape shoot with that lens. The handling is good with quiet and accurate AF from a landscape perspective. This is a quick edit on my Surface while I waited for a plane. I'll do a more thorough edit back at my main PC at home next week.
K-1 & D FA 15-30/2.8
<a title="IMGP2348-Edit.jpg" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
I also took it out a couple of evenings ago for the first quick shoot at the river park.
K-1 & D FA 15-30/2.8
<a title="IMGP1306-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Lastly, a nice concert earlier this week from a great local band, Free the Honey who are sadly losing a member soon. The woman on the left is also my son's music teacher (and an excellent multi-instrumentalist and singer).
K-1 & Leitz Elmarit 135/2.8
<a title="IMGP1198" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 18.
I'm guessing GF = girlfriend.
With fluorescent light, I'd suggest shooting raw and AWB (or flash WB) so you can fix any WB issues later.

 19.
What time of day is this going to be? If it's daytime you should be ok but if it's night you might want a faster lens.
Depending on the shots you are after you may want something wider too. At 24mm you may not be able to get big audience shots unless you shoot a panorama (which may be a viable solution to keep in mind).
I'd take only the AF gear for efficiency.
I'd put some kind of modifier on the flash to soften it a bit and/or bounce when you can.
Bring an extra battery or two.

 20.
Thanks Duane!
Amazingly the SMC 15 is also very good with little to no flare under seemingly any conditions!

 21.

Love that effect Matt (image #2). I'm guessing you had to really stop down the lens to get it (unless you were using a star filter). You must have had to crank up the ISO to get the shot, right?

Thanks! This is the legendary SMC DA 15/4 which makes these great starbursts without having to be extremely stopped down. This was at f/13, 1/50s ISO 800 and shot from my bike. Over the years I bet I have the most keepers from this lens.

 22.
Cute little girl at a community concert
K-S2 & Leitz Elmarit 135/2.8
<a title="IMGP2644" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Cruisin'
K-S2 & DA 15
<a title="IMGP2778-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">
.
Hiking a peak this morning
K-S2 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP2908-Edit" href=" data-flickr-embed="true">

 23.
I'd send it back unless it was a "as-is" item.

 24.

after I took the image I would have to wait for the cameras to process the image before it could take another.

Good for you for trying. I'm pretty spoiled with my dark skies although my city skyline shots need to happen far away from home. :)
It sounds like you may have either High ISO or Long Exposure noise reduction enabled. For shoots like this I turn them off and manage noise in post so I can take successive shots and not have to wait for the dark frame.
