What is the lighest, most compact tripod you would recommend? I hope to be
taking a month's holiday this summer - not backpacking, but still moving around
quite a lot, and living in cramped conditions. If I can't find something
really light and compact (but still stable!), I won't bother taking one.
The most it's going to have to hold in an Olympus OM-2N with 200mm lens.
Thanks

Thanks for all the advice, everyone.

My 300mm lens has a collar and tripod fixing screw on it. How does this work?
Do I fit the lens, rather than the camera body, onto the tripod?
Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Where would you get your colour print film developed in the UK? - either high
street, or postal.
Thanks

Which colour print film would you recommend? I use both 100 ASA and 400 / 800,
for a range of tasks, including landscape, nature and informal portraiture. I
live in the UK.
Thanks

Thanks for the help and advice, folks.

Thanks for all the help and advice - there's a lot of useful stuff there. I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for all the help and advice. There's clearly a lot to be said on both sides of the argument. For now, I'll stick with the OM-2Ns, I think, but I'll keep on viewing the debates.

I'm interested in making a long-lasting - I might almost say "permanent" - film
archive. However, I'm not sure which medium will last longest. I think it's
B/W negatives, but will either colour, or slides, last longer?
Thanks

We're thinking of going to Norway and / or Svalbard next summer - to see:
(a) the Norwegian coast and fjords, maybe on the Hurtigruten service
(b) Oslo
© Svalbard / Spitsergen.
It's got to be summer because of work, but that still leaves us June - September
to play with.
Any hints for when to go / what to see / how to go? My interests range from
landscape to wildlife, with a bit of street / documentary thrown in.
Thanks

Photo.net seems to have lost my earlier post, so ...
I'm hoping to take a few months out next summer when I'm made redundant, and go
travelling - the English midlands, Orkney, Oxford, Peak District; Norwegian
coast; and possibly Svalbard / Spitsbergen. And I'm wondering what I would gain
by going digital.
My current set-up is two OM-2Ns, with prime lenses from 28mm - 300mm, T-32 and
T-20 flashes, &c; an XA; and a recently-acquired compact digital, chiefly for
eBay. I love the OM-2Ns, and the quality I get from them. But is the time
right to go digital? (If I did, my first choice would seem to be a D-SLR body
that I can use my existing lenses on).
My budget would be up to ?1,000 / $2,000, or maybe a tad over; but every penny I
spent would be a penny less to spend on the travelling.
What do you think? Would I gain enough from going digital for it to be worth
the money?
Thanks

Very nice - I'm impressed.

Seen on eBay (and no, this isn't an ad or a plug - far from it!):
"35mm cameras are now obsolete therefore these would be ideal for collectors."
