I have an E-420 with a 70-300mm f/4 - 5.6 Olympus lens, but even this isn't long enough for my bird photography. I have, at the very most, £500 to spend. What is my best option, out of:

500mm f/8 mirror lens, plus adaptor

OM series 400mm or 500mm telephoto lens, plus adaptor - I reckon I can just about do this on my budget

teleconverter - will this still give acceptable image quality

something else I haven't thought of

give up - there's no way I can get what I'm after at this price band.

All advice gratefully accepted!
Thanks
Andrew

That's great to hear! I recognise one of the young ladies in the photo - I might say hi next time I'm there, especially if I've got my OM-2n with me.

I took these two photos a few days ago using my E-420 and 14-54mm lens. In one, I focussed on the rock in the foreground; in the other, I focussed on the pier in the distance.
Which one do you think looks better? How should I crop it for maximum effect?
Thanks
Moving from E-420 to E-620
in Olympus
Posted

If I were to upgrade from an E-420 to an E-620, what would I gain? I can think of three things:
- 12 MP rather than 10
- moveable LCD screen
- stabilisation.
Is that about it? Is it worth the £350-ish cost (less whatever I could sell the E-420 for)?
Thanks
Andrew
