Huge points for originality, do not think I have ever seen such an aircraft angle with a green background. That POV combined with the panning of such a long lens makes this a real impressive shot to me. Best regards.

  1. Oh that backlighting is wonderful. The colors shine through in such a true way and such little moments are so quickly gone in life and yet they can be enjoyed forever in a picture. Nice stop action. I would comment that the horizon line is right through the center line and it would be more interesting if it were on a 1/3 line instead.

This is a good image of a skimmer. It would be stronger if the bird were entering the frame not leaving. The red in the bill is nicely backlit. Regards.

Wow, high marks indeed for originality. Great contrast of textures between the fruit and the metal hooks and wire. Strangely it is a bit jarring and yet rather humorous and certainly interesting.

I also appreciate the strong leading line from foreground to background, and, I also feel like the foreground is too bright relative to the rest of the image. Best regards indeed.

Well done. The amount of detail in the shady side of the dune really balances out the image. You might consider another crop idea, the solo hiker is the strength of this image to me and the tiny speck people in the top right reduce the impact for me. Welcome back to PN and keep sharing and expanding your portfolio.

  2. This is a real stunner with the lighting and the black sand and the ice. The image could be even stronger with two improvements, move the horizon line up or down, but not in the center, and crop or adjust the primary focal point into a more "rule of thirds" position. This is an excellent shot to build upon.

Not bad at all. Nice composition, the bench does not make the shot stronger but I would say that you are really on the right path here and I encourage you to work this topic some more. Good stuff.

What an incredibly honorable portrait. Truly capturing the person and the place. For me, a slightly higher camera angle that included the plane of the desktop would have been a consideration. Well done.

A really nice shot. I like it cropped the way it is with the entire clock showing and all the white lines add some good contrast. I think some minor improvement in color could be achieved with some balancing of levels, a touch of saturation and and a little work with shadow/hightlight tools in PS.

  3. I like the tones here very much, they fit the vintage of the aircraft. The straight on side shot of the Cub reduces the 3D quality of the aircraft, and there is almost a border merger between the prop and the fence, these items reduce the effectiveness of the shot for me. Best regards.

  4. This is one to be proud of. What a fantastic payoff for your efforts. The shadows really make this image stronger. The diagonal line is also strong. Under the heading of, "things you can not control". The sky seems have clouds generated by jet contrails, too bad. Possibly a higher horizon line, less sky would reduce that feeling. All the best.

  5. Your bird is a cedar waxwing. Great color and tones in the bird and feathers. I would prefer to see it offset more in the image to avoid the center focal point, it would be a stronger image.

Keep shooting and sharing. The horizon line right through the middle of the image and middle of the model reduces the impact. The model seems placed in front of the landscape, not a part of it, more integration into the scene would make it all stronger. Regards.

  6. If a tree falls in the forest does it make this clearing in the woods? If a tree falls in a temperate rain forest, is it a death, or the continuation of life for others? Oh, I have wandered off an gotten lost. Sorry. I like how you have handled the open shad and how you have avoided including any sky, makes it all more dramatic to me. I do find myself longing for a stronger focal point in the image. All the best to you.

there is much to appreciate here. The foreground is really excellent indeed. The DOF and sharpness of the foreground rocks is a nice original presentation. Regarding a couple details, the lighthouse is leaning, probably from lens distortion, easily fixed in PS3 and newer using filter/distort/lens correction. All the best as you keep shooting and sharing.

  7. What a grand image to begin your portfolio on PN. I am glad you listed HDR in the technical details of the shot since I was going to ask that question in my remark. This is well done and tonally balanced in many ways. I find the sky and right side of the image to be the most compelling and interesting in color and tone. Much of the green valley floor is ghosted with a blue tint that is common with low light HDR's. I would be most interested in learning more details regarding your particular techniques used to balance this HDR image. All the best, keep sharing.
