This image was taken during sunrise at Cape Blanco, Oregon. Cape
Blanco is the western most point in the continental USA and is home to
one of Oregon's oldest active lighthouse. This image is a combination of 5
images taken at different focal points for optimal sharpness, then aligned &
stacked in CS5. Comments welcomed and thanks for taking the time to
look!

"Shining". This is an image taken during sunrise at the Bonneville Salt
Flats. The Bonneville Salt Flats is a large salt pan deposited by an
intermittent playa lake in western Utah and can range in thickness from
an inch near the edges to 5 feet at the center. The salt flats are
comprised of approximately 90% "table salt".
I was trying to make Arches for a sunrise, but a long evening driving got
the best of me. The salt flats seemed like a alternative I should explore.
So, I stopped and napped along the roadway around 0230 hrs until I got
zapped by a flash light from a Utah State Trooper before sunrise...good
thing. He was just checking to make sure I was not an escapee from
local state prison, or something. :-) We chatted about photography and
the salt flats.
This image is comprised of 3 images shot at different focal points at f/16
for optimal sharpness, then aligned & auto blended in CS5 for sharpness
across the board / final image. June 17, 2011.

Terrific shot! Comp is right on, colors are snappy & real, everything is tack sharp...makes me want to view longer and go there. Terrific!

I made a few edits from the original post (Glowing Evening Light). This is a
blend of two images...one exposed for the foreground...and the second for
the background. I could not pass this image up because the colors were
intense, and tried to bring out the details for the log. Comments are
welcomed. Thanks for looking! Dejan

Crater Lake is one of my favorites because it is a wonderland during all
the seasons it experiences: winter and summer. I decided to take a
look at my Crater Lake files to work up one of my favorite images. In
this image, I had to snowshoe in about and hr or so...there was a little
ice storm the day prior, leaving a crunchy texture on the trees and
surrounding landscape. Mt. McLoughlin is visible peak on the right.
Comments welcomed. Thanks for viewing!

I took an number of images, using various focal points and exposures, to
capture across the board sharpness, but the incoming surf played havoc on
my filter with spray. I managed to find a couple that worked. In this image,
I used a 4-stop ND filter to slow down the exposure time, creating a nice
look to the surf & close clouds. Comments welcomed.

I took this image after the sun fell below the horizon and after the surf receded before the next set of waves came in. I have seen this composition
before, but it was too tempting to pass up. I used a 2-stop ND filter to give
the colors a little more pop and to slow the exposure down to 2,5 seconds,
giving the waves a bit of a dreamy look...in time for the night. Comments
welcomed. Thanks for looking!

I was at Cape Blanco, north of the lighthouse for this photo set. The surf
was getting rough, the spray was intense as was the surf...coming up to
my knees. To add to the unique situation, rain was rapidly moving in. All
these factors created a very brief, but intense sunset. Comments
welcomed.

Here is an images of the Mary D. Hume at Gold Beach, OR from May 29,
2011. I was heading back along Hwy 101 when I saw this old boat. I used
an 8-stop ND filter to give 30 to 35 sec exposure. I only took one exposure
for each image and exposed for the boat. The sky is blown, but it fits the
look I was trying to give. Comments welcomed.

Malcolm, I used a bubble level on top my camera to get it as level as possible. But, I di have to tweak the horizon juuuust a little, as we do not live in a perfect world :-) Thanks for your input!

This is an image of seastacks near the Arch Rock area along the southern
Oregon coastline. I was shooting from a cliff above the crashing surf using
a 8-stop ND filter to slow the shutter speed, giving the smoothing effect of
the surf and sea. Comments welcomed. Thanks for looking!

Several riders coming out of the first corner during the DU Crit at City Park
in Denver, Colorado. I used back lighting conditions, a slower shutter speed
& flash to give the sense of speed of the rider in the foreground. Comments

Pierre, I kept the DOF at f/22 so I could keep the shutter speed at 1/80. I stayed between 1/80 & 1/125 sec.

A Pro racer (an eventual winner) riding for the Australian based team V-Australia trying to ride off the front of the winning break away during the Pro 12 race during the DU Crit at City Park in Denver, Colorado. I used a slow shutter speed and panning to capture a sense of speed through one of the most difficult corners in the race. Comments welcomed.

This image is from the DU Crit at City Park in Denver, Colorado. Byron Nix is captured here accelerating out of the first corner trying to bridge to the winning break away during the final 20 minutes of the race. I was trying to capture the speeds of riders by panning at a slow shutter speed. Comments welcomed.

Nice details & colors. The image draws me in. The one thing you may want to take a look at is the white artifact from sharpening...I can see a white outline along the edge of the mountain from the right side of the image.

Hi all, another one from Cape Blanco, OR on June 15, 2011. I could not
sleep last nite, so I went through my files of recent coastal shots and came
across the image below. This image is comprised of one shot at f/22 after
mother nature went crazy with the lighting. Comments welcomed.
