Early to mid-morning light revealed three subjects against the glowing gold
of Colorado's eastern plains. The sunlight was not harsh enough to where I
was still able to pull some details from these back lit subjects. This is a
single image taken at f/16 at 16mm to accentuated the spatial distances
between these three subjects. Comments welcomed. Thanks!

I like this shot very much, but would consider cropping up to the bottom of the rock to the left...I do see why you cropped like you did, though. Just seems like much empty space in the lower third. Colors & sharpness as well as subject are great...

Hi all, I am sure this scene has been beaten to death by other
photographers, but, here's mine. The cove at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State
Park is where I want to spend the rest of my life...just awesome!
Watching McWay Falls is mesmerizing. The lighting was less than
spectacular, but the fog was lifting enough to give out some rays and a
hint of blue. This image was a set of 4 between f/8 and f/16 using a
circular polarizer & 2-stop BW ND filters, blended in CS5. The water was
shot at a 1 sec exposure...no blinkies :-)
I really sat at this location for about 30 minutes and considered the
possibilities risking a little poison oak to get more unique shots, but this
will have to wait..Comments are welcomed! Again, thanks for looking.

As the sun sets, the fog begins it trek towards the shore and soon
shrouds the bright colors in muted tones. This image is of the central
California coastline just south or Carmel, CA. This image is comprised of
4 images, blended for optimal sharpness. Some specs are ISO 100,
27mm, f/16, 1/8 sec exposure, circular polarizer, 2-stop ND grad Cokin
filter, using a tripod mounted Nikon D700 & Nikon 16-35 f/4 lens. August
9, 2011. Comments welcomed!

Fading moments of a pacific sunset can be addicting. I was standing on
a small seastack with waves crashing to my left and soaking to the
waist...what a rush! This shot was from along the pacific coast approx 15
minutes north of Cambria, CA. It is a combination of 2 images, one
exposed for the foreground and the second the sky, then blended via
layers. The foreground was shot at f/18, 2.5 sec, ISO 320 at 16mm with
the background at 0.8 sec. Comments welcomed! thanks.

This image of several seastacks during the fading remnants of sunlight
as it sunk below the horizon shrouded in fog. This image was a blend of
two images...one shot for foreground, and the second exposed for the
moon. The foreground image was taken at ISO 200, f/16, 0.8 sec
exposure...while the moon shot was at f/18 (bad choice) at 1/8 sec
exposure. The shot location was approximately 15 minutes north of
Cambria, CA on August 7, 2011. Comments welcomed.

This is an image of a mountain goat ontop Mt. Evans this AM. I was
shadowing a herd of approximately 40 for a couple of hrs. I took this
image using a Nikon D700, Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 lens. I spot metered the
highlighted fringe of its coat to capture details otherwise would have been
lost if averaged the exposure. These guys let me walk within the herd
after getting comfortable with my presence. August 2, 2011. Comments
welcomed! Thanks!

Sunrise at the dunes yielded sunlight dancing on the tops of the peaks
of sand dunes. This is a single image of sunrise at the Great Sand
Dunes National Park near Alamosa, Colorado. I hiked in approximately 1
mile w/headlamp around 0400 hrs to get to a high point to capture this
scene. I used a tripod mounted Nikon D700, Nikon 16-35 f/4 lens with
circular polarizer filter, 2-stop ND Grad filter, ISO 250, f/16 and 16mm
focal length. Comments welcomed and thanks for looking!

I was up in Crested Butte on July 30, 2011 hanging out at around 10,000 ft
MSL with the wild flowers, painters, and a magnificent sunset which never
really materialized. This is a single image of a set I took taken at various
focal points for exposure...but this image worked best w/o any blending.
Some data includes Nikon D700, ISO 320, f/16, Nikon 16-35 f/4 lens, 2-stop
ND Grad Cokin filter, and post in LR & CS5. Comments welcomed! Thanks
again.

Cave Point, Door County, Wisconsin. Sunrise along the right coastline of
Door County yielded a burst of orange, yellows and blues commingling with
a little AM fog. The shoreline at Cave Point is bordered with limestone bluffs
eroded by wave action, resulting in unique "lake caves". This image is
comprised of one image, using a 2 stop ND & 2 stop-ND grad filters.
Comments welcomed.

Cave Point, Door County, Wisconsin. Another take of this sunrise
scene. I was originally trying to capture several purple flowers growing
out of the bedding planes, but somehow the flowers were not
cooperative. Anyways, I shot two images, then blended into this one
image...both shot at f/16, using a 2 stop Grad ND filter and 4 stop ND to
slow the exposure time. Comments welcomed.
Thanks for looking!

Clint & Douglas, I actually took two sets of four shots of "this" scene before I moved on and the lighting increased. My first three shots comprised of f/16 at three different focal lengths (for stacking) then the last shot of ea set was at f/22. I agree with the diffraction, but this is a new lens (Nikon 16-35, for full frame) where I did not notice any significant diffraction at this focal length is the previous two days of images. Now, my Nikon 24-70 is a different story. In the images f/16, a couple of flowers did move, but the morning breeze was moderate at that time. I have a couple of other wide angles (for full frame & DX), but this one is impressing me...even at f/4.

Like your image, but I'd crop a little from the right to de-center the stacks. Still, nice!

Hey Rassie, the processing killed this image. You have a nice subject, and probably a nice cloudless sunset / or sunrise? But you have artifacts from over sharpening (white halos) & a jacked up contrast (halos & distortion) ...and you oversaturated the colors.I would consider a monotone with some structure, use a 1x1 or 4x5 crop to eliminate all the bottom & right dead space. If you really want to ge ambitious, consider cloning out the shrub below left of the tree. The tree makes a nice subject by itself. The shrub give un-necessary distraction to the image. Just a few thoughts.

Nee note below. A revision to my original.

This image is a revision to my original. I decided on a 4x5 crop...Anyways, morning sunrise at a sea stack along the south shore of Cape Blanco, Oregon. The tide was out all morning and revealed more beach details. It was a perfect start to the morning. The flowers in the foreground would be illuminated by sunlight in about 15 or so minutes...giving the scene a different feel. Single image shot at f/22. Comments welcomed & additional suggestions.

Here is an image I initially overlooked...I am still playing around
with...debating about a little more cropping. Anyways, morning sunrise at a

all morning and revealed more beach details. It was a perfect start to the
morning. The flowers in the foreground would be illuminated by sunlight in
about 15 or so minutes...giving the scene a different feel. Single image shot

What I liked about this image was how the sun intensified and reflected
its color across the standing ocean water. I sun is a little blown out, but
I shot it that way to start the image viewing at that point, then draw the
viewer along the reflection to the rocks. The tide was beginning to make
its march up the beach at this point, but was a very relaxing experience...with the tide washing up to the ankles and the sound of sea
lions near by. Comments welcomed and thanks for viewing!

I shot this image while working my way back to the trail head as the tide
was moving in. In this scene, the tide was moving in quickly as the light
began to fade. On the far rock, seals were basking in the sun before the
waves began to swallow the small rock outcropping. Comments welcomed

Hi all, here is another take of the seastack along the south beach at
Cape Blanco, Oregon on June 15, 2011. I took this image just before the
sunrise peeked above the horizon after getting down on the beach. I had
the beach all to myself for the next 30 minutes before the sounds of
dogs, sea gulls and the distant wails of sea lions permeated the air.
Anyways, this is a single image shot at f/22. I decided to use this image
because there were some clouds and some of the oranges were
beginning to show up. Also, let me know if you think the stack appears
over-sharpened...I made two passes on this. Anyways, thanks for
looking and comments welcomed as always!

Strawberry Hill State Park, Oregon. The few things which stood out about
this coastal area were the number small stacks / rock outcroppings, how
quickly the tide moved in, and sea lions. These guys were lounging on a
rock outcropping a little further to the left of the image and were quickly
being overtaken by the surging tidal waves. Comments welcomed and
thanks for viewing!

This is a singe image of Fern Ridge Lake in Oregon during the early
moments of sunrise. I took a 3 second exposure to allow for a mirror like
appearance of the water, but short enough for capturing the mist slowly
dancing across the water body. Comments welcomed and thanks for
looking!

I took this image after witnessing the beginning of a magnificent sunrise at
Fern Ridge Lake in Oregon. Mist was dancing across the lake and the
sunrise illuminated oranges and yellows. I shot this single image using a 8-
stop ND filter for a 61 second exposure to create a surreal experience...one
I was experiencing when I watched this sunrise. Comments welcomed.
