  1. If there is a Calumet or other rental place in the area you might want to consider renting the lights for the night. I would however rent them a day ahead to get used to working with them. If you are planning on using existing electricity might want to scout out location to see where outlets are and if they work. Years ago when shooting portraits and weddings I started to carry a simple test device to check outlets when more then once was told there was a working outlet and there was not. Hope this helps

  2. I have 5 2 gb cards for my camera and the largest that I am thinking of is 4 gb. My thinking on that is that is also the size of a single layer Dvd so I could still back the card up to one dvd from that days shooting if I so choose. At the moment the most cards I have filled in one day is two 2gb cards. As to which one to get Sandisk III or IV you might want to check out this site and see if one is much better then the other

He has tested various cards and camera combinations.

  3. You can not set the settings on that dial between settings. When I look at mine it looks like at Asa 125 I would set mine at f11 1/2 and use purple setting and shoot to 10 feet or set it on the blue use f8 1/2 and shool to 15 feet. Now this is with the head in the normal setting. In the Auto mode you mostly only need to consider the maxium distance to the subject. If you want to shoot manual turn the dial on the front to m then at about 5 feet you would use f22 and at 60 feet some where between 2-2.8. If your turn the dial on the front to 1/2 then point the dial at the 1/2 setting and read the dial again. Make sure when you go back to using the auto mode you turn the dial on the side back to full to get the correct settings.

If you do not have the instructions you can get them from this site as a Pdf file.

  4. Not sure of what the photographer uses but if you check out the review section two of the reviews seem to be from a Hasselblad publication. I cannot read it as it appears to be in German. If I had to guess it would be that a Hasselblad with a digital back. Hope this helps John
  5. The only thing you have to watch in the olympus series is non-manufactors lense is with the om-4 series some of the lense screw holes may shear off the small black button on the camera where the lens mounts and cause the metering system not to work. I have had a vivitar lens that would not mount on one of my cameras but when I discovered it I was picking up that camera from Olympus in LA mentioned it and the tech took the camera to the back along with the lense and when he brought it back it worked fine. 6. You might want to find out what it would cost to rent the equipment. It may be cheaper to buy a tent and other camping gear at K-mart or other such store and ship it back to your place or leave it with a friend. Yet another idea would be to ship your gear out here before you get here. Good luck John
  7. Check this out at Amazon.com. Similar machines can be found In K-mart, target or walmart stores during the Halloween season. I believe that they run on Ac but I believe you could run one on a cheap inverter hooked up to your car battery. I have never used one or seen one in action. Another way to go might be dry ice and hot water. Hope this helps
  8. One of the things that I liked about sensia besides the cheapness was the reciprocity characteristics that it had. If I remember correctly it did not need any compensation in either time or filtration until after 2 minutes. I would look it up in the Fuji Pro Film guide but cannot find it at the moment.

This photo was shot with sensia with an OM-4t on auto

  9. I replaced both of the lens that came with the camera with a 14-54 and a 50-200 both of which are 2.8-3.5. I am much happier with them. I still use the 40-150 when I need something in that focal length but do not want to carry the 50-200. The other lens was a 17-45 (kit came from Costco) and I don;t remember the last time I used it. John
  10. I go along with Rich on the choice of card compact flash is much faster on my E-500 but I too keep a xd card in the camera just in case I forget to put the compact card back in. I even go so far as to never take the xd card out if for some reason I use it I put a compact card back in the camera and copy the photos to it to move them into my computer John
  11. There was a y adaptor for the 200b that allowed you to either use two lightheads on one power pack or to charge the battery while using the flash. If I remember correctly there had to be at least a partial charge on the battery for that to work. Hope this helps John
  12. I have two peanut slaves and a couple of 285hvs one old and one new (little over a year) and the peanut slave will not trigger either of the strobes, I just checked mine are the PN version. If possible I would try the slaves in the store to see if they work before I bought them. John
