Hi,

Just want to know how would this lens on be my Nikon D60? I read here in PN that it will be 75mm in my dSLR body.

Thanks Peter and Owen.

Peter I am interested in 50mm as its almost closer to what human eye see. I want to shot daily life pictures that can include people, street, event, occasion, architecture etc.

But if 35mm is that what is par with 50mm then I think I would be happy with my Nikkor 18-55mm, but again its not fast.

Thanks Jose. Also got to know that 50mm 1.8 is better than 1.4 one. What do you say on that.

I just read that on DSLR the 50mm becomes 75mm. I have Nikon D60, please let me know that would I be getting 75mm instead of 50mm?

I have to get either of 50mm 1.4 Ai-S OR 55mm 2.8 Ai-S Micro.

I am not much into macro but thought if I get 55mm 2.8 Ai-S Micro then would it be of some benefit.

I understand 1.4 and 2.8 is big differentiators but still want to know would getting 55mm 2.8 Ai-S Micro be a great advantage.

Plus please let me know the lens quality of both i.e. number of elements etc.

I am getting each one for 176 USD.

Looking forward for response that will help me in decision making.

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,

This morning I figured out the battery is drained, and then I got the idea that I forgot to "power off" my Nikon D60. Just want to know that continuous "power on" harmed the camera in anyway? I just recharged the battery for couple of minutes and checked the camera and it did "powered on", but couldn't check other functions as I was already late from office.

Thanks,

Came across and bought a book "people IN MY CAMERA" by Michael Gnade.

Its a wonderful book and a treasure on portraiture, figure studies, photographic approach, composition, and experiments.

I used to shoot in Aperture priority, but now I do mostly in Manual mode. It gives me flexibility in all options and I guess I can override the meter in more efficient manner.

Please correct me if I am wrong, especially in second part of second line.

I have in mind to get 50mm prime. That I think would be all-purpose-lens, reason for this statement is that I have tilt towards photojournalism.

Your views on 50 mm please.

Silver Efex Pro: I think the demo version has not got full features. Right/Wrong?

I am looking for free website template for my photography site. I just need a simple layout i.e. menus on the left (portfolio sub-sections preferably) and photograph on the remaining area.

Is there any free website template I can get or any free program using that I could create the web site.

I have just attached a sample page for better understanding.

Thanks in anticipation.

My disk space has consumed multi-fold since I have started shooting in RAW+JPEG, and now its a time for sensible planning for storing them. Just would like to know how others are managing it? Huge capacity internal hard drive, external hard drive, USB drives, some online facility or any other practice.

I am thinking to buy an external hard drive, but before taking any step would like to have ideas from community.

Thanks in anticipation.

55mm 2.8 Micro-Nikkor - its nice!

Thanks again Peter. Yes your response helped me in understanding the crop factor and thanks for the link. Frankly speaking, I like manual focus more so I am not bothered about autofocusing issue.

I am considering 55mm 2.8 Micor-Nikkor as a general purpose lens that I could carry most of the time. And as its a prime so it must be reasonably sharp with lot better optic quality.

I hope I am able to convey my thoughts :)
