Sweet!

Humorous and very creative. Excellent compositing. Maybe the surround and foreground is burned down a little too much.

First, if you have louped this and it is indeed sharp have it drum scanned. That will go along way to helping reduce the scanning noise you may have. I would have a 4000 spi drum scan done. Post scanning sharpening will still be needed but the IQ will be awesome if scanned properly.
Second, if you do return and reshoot using HDRI noise can and should be dealt with in 2 phases. Prior to submitting the exposures to the tone mapping software and after the image is rendered to 16 bit. HDRI can render very realistic or interpretive results, your choice.

My take is that your shots would be more effective without the orb of the sun in the frame. I would have waited just until the sun dropped below the horizon. Nice shot though.

Now this I like!

Tony,
Very, very nice. As you can see from the number of comments this image has struck a nerve - visually.
I don't rate photos on photo.net any longer but I think your shot is extremely effective.

IMO, lowering the opacity of the texture layer might help a tad. On the other hand if I were looking at a print I might not feel that way.
In fact if the image were mine, I'd print it as a palladium with subtle gum bichromate layers to enrich the print and add some weak color to the flower stamen. The negative space in the upper right bothers me a bit and the stuff at the bottom left of the frame don't make visual sense to me (its' presence distracts from the image and doesn't visually support the rest of the piece, essentially becoming a distraction.)
At any rate you have a great start here for an abstracted botanical.

You need to burn the upper left corner, my eye goes directly to that bright area.

Doesn't get much better than this!

Great photo!
As for Nikon, no they are out of the scanner business.

Great shot but I think the iris has been brightened to much.

I don't usually react to waterfall/stream photos but this one works, though I migh lighten up on the corner/edge burning.
