  1. Bob Atkins' articles have been a great source of information for me and he always writes them in an easy way to understand.
  2. My shorts would have been browner than that bear !!!
  3. Thanks Mark and Andy for the clarification. I agree that there may be a need for an updated revision to the nomenclature currently given to some of the forum categories.
  4. I have the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro (non-IS) for my 6D. This lens is excellent on FF, but I doubt you'll find one for under $300, even used. The Tamron and Tokina 90mm macros are often recommended for inexpensive (used) alternatives. A 60-ish mm macro is often recommended for crop cameras. The macro world of photography can be addictive.........have fun!!!
  5. How was that background created in the second image...........just curious........thanks.
  6. I think that would be a Canon 100mm "f2.8" USM macro lens.
  7. I agree! In my opinion the XK-E was the most beautiful (mass production) car ever made. I went for a ride in one a friend owned. We hit 140 mph on a back road........stupid, but thrilling!!! My neighbor bought one for his wife for her birthday.......it had the v-12 in it. The engine compartment was so full, you couldn't fit your hand in there !!!
  8. I don't think that's a Mayfly: Mayfly - Wikipedia
  9. It's not showing up on Google Chrome in Linux Mint either.
  10. #GiveThanks: In this week of our Thanksgiving holiday, please let me express my gratitude for this incredibly beautiful and diverse world in which we live. Even in times as difficult as 2020 has been, I continue to find wonder and amazement in the nature that surrounds me. I hope each of you likewise find joy in the beauty of Spaceship Earth. Well said.
  11. I'm not sure how strict the guidelines are here, but there are white bags in the background on the left, and one of the cattle on the right appears to have a rope around it's neck.
  12. Agreed! I never do any editing or backing up of photos while connected to the Internet.
  13. Here's an article about the utility: Canon's new software will turn select EOS, PowerShot cameras into webcams for Windows 10 PCs
  14. Actually, I think the clouds enhance the image.......I like it.
  15. Excellent catch. Hopefully you have no small pets that like to wander in your back yard.......could be trouble!
  16. +1 with being pissed. Suddenly I had three paperweights. However, I stayed with what I had until Kodachrome 25 finally gave up the ghost, and then I moved on to Canon's digital stuff. The only consolation perhaps, will be if I buy one of their mirrorless cameras, I'll be able to resurrect my FD lenses, if only for nostalgia sake.
  17. You shouldn't have said that. Now we need to know the rest of the story!!!
  18. Yes, it fixed a focus problem: "Firmware Version 1.2.0 addresses the following phenomenon. 1. If pressure is applied to the lens barrel while the lens is mounted to the camera (pressure can be applied even while attaching the lens cap while carrying the camera with the lens attached in a bag), the autofocusing function of the lens may stop working." If I had bought a lens with this problem I would have considered it a bad copy.........at least at first, until I was told that it was just a firmware issue that could be easily fixed by an update. Fortunately my copy of this lens was already updated from the factory when I purchased it, so I never encountered the issue.
  19. Good advice, but be aware of where you place the lens, as it could start a fire..........(sunlight magnifying affect).
  20. I haven't heard of too many "bad ones" after the firmware update (version 1.2.0 in 2012) that was implemented shortly after they came out.
  21. Mark........you have way too much time on your hands:)
  22. Welcome to the forum. You might also want to join a local camera club. There will be many friendly folks there to help you with any questions you may have about your camera's functions and the Post Processing that may be needed to have the images look the way you want.
