  1. It is really simple if you have photo shop, Take a shot at the recommended meter reading at proper exposure then take four more shots, two under exposed and two over exposed then adjust contrast and tonal value for each layer then put layers together, HDR is result, Mess with it, its realy cool you will be hooked?

And you can also look cool if you custom cut a piece of milk carton a little bit bigger than the flash on your camera and stick it on with some vel-croe so you can put on and off when need to shoot softer light for portraits, try this as well, again waiting for results from these tips? by now GH.

Take a piece of wide scotch tape and stick it over your flash, may need a second piece? Experiment with one piece and two, make tape protrude past end of camera and fold end tucked and stuck over so it is easy to peel away when need be. This will soften the direct light when shooting portraits its really cool you will love it till you get a 50D like mine. Shoot a picture of your Hubbie and post it for us to see. do a before the tape shot and after? You can even use color transparent tape for a cool color cast, Try it? would love to see the results, Remember it is not the tool you use, it is how well you can make that tool work best for you! Yes Lori, You should have used the natural light in the back drop. With all dew respect as to learn from, you do have great composition on all your work but the lighting in your portraits are all to overwhelming on the light. You need to use a dedicated flash and angle it towards the ceiling . Direct flash at that close is killer. Also what I use is a snoot on my dedicated flash , used allot by the prose's cheap and very effective. Look in to buying a snoot for around 45 bucks, Believe me you will love it. Most important you have awesome focus in your work! Master the light and you are there! Happy shooting Gordon H.

Nice pose but technically the noise in the shadows are a bit to much for me, I would of love to see her naturally to see soft skin tones, great pose and great composition!

Hello Raymond, First what I would like to say is there appears to be allot of noise in this shot, It is very creative though you were probably going for this affect, I don't know? If you weren't double the ISO next time , I think your meeter got a lighter reading of the building, Just my suggestion?
